Description

Introduction

This mod's entire purpose is to be a fun mod. It can however lead to frustrating consequences if the ores are mined without caution, it is therefore advised to read information about the ores listed below. This is intended to be a small side project without some massive goal behind it. It can either be explored alone or used to have fun with friends. The mod author is not liable for negative impacts on friendships.

Tiers of inconvenience

While all ores are inconvenient, some lead to more severe consequences than others.

Harmless annoyance

These ores pose no harm to the player and just waste their time or cause confusion.

Rotating Ore

Flips the player to look at the opposite side. This can waste a lot of time because the player has to turn around every time to mine each ore one by one.

Garbage Ore

Clutters the whole inventory with useless(?) items, requiring players to spend some time with throwing them away.

Fake Diamond Ore

Looks similar to diamonds but drops a useless item which is slightly more green. This ore mainly exists for the sake of disappointment.

Loud Ore

Creates multiple sound effects at once after getting mined, purely an acoustic annoyance. Roughly as loud as a Nether portal.

Mining obstruction

The following ores are harmless but make it more annoying to mine by requiring special tools.

Wooden Stone

Can only be mined with an axe, drops cobblestone.

Rock Dirt

Can only be mined with a shovel, drops cobblestone.

Milk Ore

Completely indestructible, must be milked with an empty bucket to convert it into a regular stone block.

Serious threat

Ores which do not instantly kill the player but can still pose a threat if handled irresponsibly.

Wind Bag

Teleports the player by a few blocks. Can be very dangerous near deep pits or lava lakes.

Explosive Ore

Explodes like TNT when mined or blown up by other blocks. Should only be mined with proper equipment or destroyed from a distance with TNT.

Certain death

These ores lead to catastrophic consequences if mishandled and can cause players to lose all their items.

Heavenly Ore

Teleports the player high into the sky, leading to a death from fall damage unless the player gets very lucky and lands in a deep enough body of water. This effect can be avoided by not using any tool and mining it by hand. TNT is also a safe option. There is also an inventory item which can stop the teleportation effect and make mining completely safe from this menace.

Technology progression

It is possible to gain some uses out of the ores by crafting them into absurd things. There only is a small progression branch right now which will be expanded over time.

Falsifier ore processing

Right clicking with a falsifier made from fake diamonds on milk ore converts it into softened milk ore. Using a bucket on it creates a milk stone instead of a regular milk bucket.

Milk Stone processing

Inconvenient crates can be made from a chest and fake diamonds. It can be used to insert a milk stone and pour milk into it to soak the milk stone. Placing the filled crate and letting it ferment for a short time causes the milk to turn into rocky cheese.

Rocky Cheese

Rocky Cheese is a unique food which provides 4 health points when eaten. The milk stone is left behind and can be reused to make more cheese.

Future plans

More ores

There are plans for some additional ores with unique annoyances, they will be revealed as they are released.

Silly use cases

All ores currently are entirely useless, the plan is to add new tools and a small tech progression to build machines which turn useless items into something more useful.
