Description

Just Enough Loading is a client-side performance addon for Just Enough Items (JEI) that reduces startup work and redundant recipe examples.

JEI generates and simulates many synthetic Anvil and Grindstone combinations during startup. This addon limits redundant examples before the expensive result calculations are performed.

Features

- Optimizes JEI's Anvil and Grindstone example generation.
- Keeps representative compatible items for enchantments.
- Preserves coverage for special and modded enchantments with restricted item compatibility.
- Limits unnecessary generic repair examples.
- Reduces recipe-page clutter and startup work.
- Does not change actual crafting recipes, gameplay mechanics or server behavior.

Default Limits

- Up to 3 representative items per enchantment.
- Up to 16 generic repair examples for each optimized category.

Optional Iron's Spells Support — Forge and NeoForge Only

When a supported Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks build is installed, the Forge and NeoForge versions also compact Arcane Anvil imbuing examples while preserving item and spell-level coverage.

Fabric versions optimize standard JEI Anvil and Grindstone examples and do not include Iron's Spells integration.

Iron's Spells is optional. Standard JEI optimizations work without it.

Requirements

- Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge: Forge 47.4.0 or newer within the 47.x line; JEI 15.49.0.188 or newer. Optional Iron's Spells: 1.20.1-3.16.2 or newer.
- Minecraft 1.20.1 Fabric: Fabric Loader 0.19.4 or newer; JEI 15.62.0.219 or newer.
- Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge: NeoForge 21.1.238 or newer; JEI 19.57.0.451 or newer. Optional Iron's Spells: 1.21.1-3.16.3 or newer.
- Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric: Fabric Loader 0.16.14 or newer; JEI 19.57.0.451 or newer.

Install JEI and its required dependencies for your Minecraft version and mod loader, then add the matching Just Enough Loading JAR. No server installation is required.

Configuration

Fabric settings are stored in `config/just_enough_loading.properties`.

Independent JEI Addon

This project provides its own optimization code. It is not a fork or modified distribution of JEI. JEI is required and is not included in the addon.

Actual performance improvements depend on the modpack, items, enchantments, recipes, hardware and configuration. Benchmark results from one setup should not be treated as measurements for every port.
