Key Command Client

Assign a command or chat message to almost any keyboard key and run it exactly once per physical press.

Features

  • Full keyboard-style configuration screen, including function keys, navigation keys, arrow keys, and a numeric keypad
  • Open the configuration screen with F8
  • Click a key, enter an action, choose a mode, and save
  • Command mode: both say 1 and /say 1 are sent as commands
  • Text mode: say 1 is sent as chat, while /say 1 is sent as a command
  • A held key does not repeatedly fire from the operating system's key-repeat event; press it again to run it again
  • English and Korean interface translations
  • Client-side only; the server does not need to install the mod
  • No Fabric API dependency for Fabric builds

Important behavior

While you are in gameplay and no screen is open, a configured key runs its assigned action instead of its normal Minecraft action. For example, binding Q prevents the normal drop-item action and runs your saved action. Keyboard input remains normal in chat and other screens. F8 is reserved for opening the configuration screen.

Commands still require the permissions granted by the server. Chat rate limits and anti-spam rules also still apply. Please respect the rules of every server you join.

Installation

  1. Install Fabric Loader or NeoForge for the exact Minecraft version you use.
  2. Download the JAR whose filename matches both your loader and Minecraft version.
  3. Put that single JAR in the instance's mods folder.
  4. Start the game and press F8.

Do not install Fabric and NeoForge editions together. Fabric editions do not require Fabric API.

Configuration

Bindings are saved in config/key-command-client.json inside the Minecraft instance. Removing a binding in the configuration screen updates this file automatically.

Compatibility

Fabric builds are available for every stable Java Edition release from 1.20 through 1.21.11 and from 26.1 through 26.2. NeoForge builds are available from 1.20.1 onward; Minecraft 1.20 itself has no official NeoForge release. See the version matrix for the exact list.
