Last Durability

Everyone has done it. You are clearing a tunnel, you are not looking at the bar, and a netherite pickaxe with Mending and Efficiency V dies to a block of cobblestone. The XP is gone, the enchantments are gone, and the block was not worth it.

Last Durability stops the swing instead of the tool. When an item is down to its last point of durability, the action simply does not happen: the block stays, the mob is not hit, the flint and steel does not spark. The item survives, and the action bar tells you why. Repair it, then carry on.

That is the whole mod. No new items, no new blocks, no recipes, no world generation, nothing to learn.

WHAT IT COVERS

Breaking blocks. Attacking mobs. Using an item on a block, such as shears on a beehive or a shovel making a path. Using an item on nothing, such as flint and steel or a fishing rod.

Items with no durability are never affected. Anything already broken by another mod is left alone.

CONFIGURATION

A plain properties file is written to your config folder on first launch: enabled, warn, and reserve. The reserve is how many points are held back, and it defaults to 1, which is the vanilla-est answer possible. Set it to 5 if you want more warning, or turn the mod off entirely without uninstalling it.

NOTES

No mixins, so it does not fight other mods over the same code. It runs entirely on loader events, which is also why it works on all three loaders from one shared core.

Works in singleplayer and on servers. On a server it is enforced server-side, so it applies to everyone.
