Lore
Long before villages, kingdoms, and even written history, there existed a civilization whose greatest achievement was not their cities, but their tools.
To them, a tool was never just a piece of wood and metal. It was something that grew alongside its owner. Every block mined, every tree felled, and every path carved into the earth became another memory carried within the tool itself.
As generations passed, those memories accumulated. A tool was handed down from one owner to the next, each inheriting not only the craftsmanship of the one before, but also the experiences of everyone who had wielded it. The more a tool was used, the more it remembered.
They called this simply The Legacy.
But like every great civilization, theirs eventually faded into history.
The vast underground cities they built were abandoned, their halls fell silent, and their names were lost to time. Today, those forgotten places are known only as the Ancient Cities, where echoes of their existence still remain beneath layers of stone.
Only their tools endured.
Some were left behind in the Ancient Cities they once called home. Others found their way into abandoned mines, forgotten strongholds, and distant ruins over countless generations.
Though time stripped away their strength, it could never erase every memory. Deep beneath the rust, fragments of the Legacy still remained. When someone discovers one of these forgotten relics, it does not immediately awaken. Its memories are fractured, its strength diminished, and much of its past has been lost. Only through patience and continued use does it slowly begin to remember.
Every stage of restoration is more than repairing old metal—it is the return of memories thought to be gone forever. A Perfected tool is not powerful because it has become new, but because it has remembered everything it once was.
A Legacy Tool was never meant to sit forgotten inside a chest.
When abandoned for too long, its memories begin to fade once more. The legacy weakens. Ancient knowledge slips away. The tool slowly returns to the silent relic it once was, waiting for another worthy hand to awaken it again.
For a Legacy is not something that can simply be possessed.
It must be carried.
It must be preserved.
And above all—
It must be remembered.
