Description
Luminous Nether Death Fix
A small addon that prevents a missing-killer crash when a Warped Mushlin King from Luminous Nether dies.
The problem
Environmental damage or another damage source without an attacking entity can crash the mob's death procedure on some server packs.
Why it happens
Luminous Nether 1.3.3 reads player variables from DamageSource.getEntity() before checking whether that entity exists. The procedure also handles an advancement for a player killer.
Scope of the fix
The addon adds a null check around the killer-variable and advancement section. When a killer exists, the original logic still runs. When no killer exists, the mob's death texture, three item drops, pickup delay and delayed particle effect are preserved.
The fix does not change damage, health, loot quantities, recipes or progression. It does not contain the original Luminous Nether classes or assets.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21.1; NeoForge 21.1.235; Java 21.
- Luminous Nether 1.3.3 is required and installed separately.
- Install on a dedicated server, or in the client profile for singleplayer/integrated-server worlds.
- The addon recognises the existing native missing-killer guard and skips applying its own guard when that override is already present.
From Steam & Steel
The fix originated in Steam & Steel SMP, our custom Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge server pack. It is available independently of the full pack. The public addon allows the original, unmodified Luminous Nether release to be used.

Luminous Nether and its original content belong to RipleysMods and the upstream contributors: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/luminous-nether. This is an independent community addon.
Beta / Feedback
This is a beta release derived from the specific Steam & Steel server pack used by our players. The newly packaged release has been checked locally; it has not yet been verified by a fresh player joining through CurseForge.
If you encounter a crash, an error or unexpected behaviour, leave a comment with the addon version, Minecraft and NeoForge versions, relevant mod versions, and steps to reproduce the problem. Include a log with private details removed. We will investigate reported bugs and work on fixes.
The actual upstream procedure was transformed through Sponge Mixin and loaded with JVM verification. Local controlled-API regressions executed its original, existing server-patched and addon-transformed event/procedure paths:130/148/148 checks. These checks are separate from full-game testing.
