Description

Manhole Travel

Pry open rusted manhole covers and travel through your team's sewer network.

Covers turn up in the world, near villages, outposts and other structures. They are rusted shut, jammed or buried under rubble. Wedge a crowbar in, mash the lever while the grinding noise draws every zombie around, drag the lid aside, and that manhole joins your network. From then on, climb down any open manhole and come out at any other.

Features

Prying, the hard way

  • Three phases: wedge the crowbar in (hold), work the lever (mash Jump or Attack against a draining bar), slide the lid (hold).
  • The noise alerts nearby undead. Give up halfway and the crowbar slips with a loud clang.
  • Every cover has a condition (rust on iron, swollen wood on hatches, rubble on cave holes) that makes it harder.
  • Difficulty presets: simple (just hold), normal, hard or fully custom.
  • Works with any crowbar: the mod's own, the common crowbar tags, or any item whose id contains "crowbar".

Travel

  • A full-screen map of the area: real terrain (FTB Chunks' map when installed, the loaded chunks otherwise), one icon per cover type, zoom and pan, and a sidebar list.
  • Click a cover for its details, a Travel button and the option to rename it (names are per team).
  • You climb down the ladder, the screen goes dark with a line of flavour text, and you climb out at the other end.
  • Configurable costs and dangers: hunger and time per km, an optional item cost, no travel while fighting, cooldowns and ambushes on arrival.

Covers

  • Five kinds, each its own block: City Manhole, Drain Grate, Wooden Hatch, Cave Hole and the craftable Home Manhole.
  • Animated: lids slide or swing open on real hinges, rubble sinks into the pit, and a ladder rises out of the shaft.
  • Their condition shows: rust, swollen mouldy wood or rubble on the lid and frame.
  • The ladder always faces the player who placed the cover.

Home Manhole

  • Craft it and place it in your base. It is yours and private: only you see it and travel to it.
  • Turn on Share with team from its map popup (or sneak + right-click) to let your FTB team use it.

Teams and maps

  • FTB Teams: the whole team shares one sewer network.
  • FTB Chunks: opened covers appear on the map and minimap, with icons that scale with the zoom.

For modpack makers

  • Spawn rules are data-driven: datapack JSON or KubeJS builders. Choose which cover block each rule places, the chance, the distance from the structure, biomes and dimensions. Blacklists live in the config.
  • Covers generate around structures (6 to 24 blocks outside by default), never inside them, and (built-in) rarely in the wild: cave holes in mountains, drain grates in swamps, hatches in plains and forests.
  • Covers are solid and immovable: fluids can't wash them away, pistons can't push them, and they're tagged c:relocation_not_supported (plus Mekanism's cardboard box and Create blacklists).
  • KubeJS events for spawning, prying, mashing, travelling and arriving, plus a binding to place, open, rename, share and teleport. Opening a cover grants a KubeJS stage, handy for quests.
  • Every text on screen is a lang key (English and Italian included), so resource packs and KubeJS can rewrite messages and travel lines.
  • Built-in recipes and natural spawning can each be turned off in the config.
