Math Breaker

English description first. The German description is in the spoiler at the bottom.

Make every mining trip a brain teaser

Math Breaker turns mining into a challenge: every so often, a math problem appears and the drops from your mined blocks are held until you answer. Problems get harder as you progress, from basic arithmetic to topics such as fractions, percentages, geometry, and equations.

How it works

  • A task is triggered after a randomized interval of mined blocks (15–35 by default, about 25 on average; dirt-type blocks are ignored).
  • The server buffers the mined blocks' drops and experience while the task is open.
  • Enter submits your answer. The server checks it; the solution is never sent to the client.
  • Solve the task to release the buffered drops. A wrong answer, timeout, or Escape discards them and applies a level-based penalty.
  • Tasks have a 20-second timer by default. The answer screen does not pause the game.
  • Players are protected from damage while answering by default. This and other gameplay settings can be changed in the server configuration.

Progression and rewards

Players start at level 0 and can progress up to level 25 by solving tasks. The ten topic stages cover addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, larger numbers, order of operations, decimals, fractions, negative numbers, percentages, geometry, and equations or unit conversions.

Progress brings permanent mining-speed bonuses from level 10. At level 15 and above, correctly answering a task can also give the buffered drops an additional Fortune II-style reroll chance. The chance increases with level. Fortune only affects blocks that support it (ores, gravel, leaves and so on).

Wrong answers and timeouts discard buffered drops and can apply Mining Fatigue, extra tool durability damage, and—at higher levels—Blindness. Penalty bands and progression bonuses are configurable.

Math Blessing

The Math Blessing enchantment has two levels. When a math event is triggered, it can let the mined drops pass without a task: 10% by default for level I and 20% for level II. If a task triggered with level II is failed, the next task is one level easier; the player's saved level is unchanged.

Server and configuration

Install Math Breaker on both the client and the server. The server is authoritative for answers, timers, drops, and progression. Java 21 is required.

The server configuration lets you customize task intervals and time limits, progression, drop handling, player protection, penalties, enchantment chances, and more. Players can check their status with /math status; operators can manage player settings and levels with /math on, /math off, and /math level.

Deutsche Beschreibung

So funktioniert's
