Description
!WARNING - THIS MOD WILL ONLY TRIGGER ONCE SHORTLY AFTER A WORLD IS LOADED!
IT WILL DESTROY BLOCKS!
IT CAN BE LAGGY DEPENDING ON THE SERVER AND HOW MANY METEORS ARE TRIGGERED!
with the standard config you have to manually start the meteor shower with /meteor resetEvent or change the timer in the config from -1 into a positive number.
Meteor Shower: Resource Influx
1. Description and Purpose
The primary function of this mod is to supply resources to a pre-generated world.
In many pre-generated worlds, there are no new modded ores or items. This mod uses meteor events to add these materials to explored terrain. It is not necessary to delete chunks or travel to distant areas.
2. Server Operation and Map Scan
The server scans existing region files during startup:
-
The system identifies chunks that players explored before.
-
The system calculates the total number of meteors from the chunk count.
-
The server starts meteor events at timed intervals.
-
The system loads only the necessary target chunks for the impact.
3. Impact Physics and Terrain Modification
Each meteor event calculates a trajectory and creates a physical impact:
-
A crater with material displacement
-
Ejecta blocks that fall in relation to their material properties
-
An outer crater rim
-
A thermal zone that burns grass and leaves
-
A molten core that contains mineral resources
-
Special meteor fragments around the crater.
4. Subsurface and Water Logic
Cave Stability
The impact shockwave moves into the ground below the crater. If the rock layer above a cave is thin, the ceiling breaks and drops rubble to the floor. Deep caverns with thick rock layers stay stable.
Water Impacts
If a meteor hits an ocean or lake, the system prevents water block glitches. The meteor does not remove water and does not form an air pocket. The meteor moves to the sea floor and forms a rock core with magma blocks.
5. Configuration and Rewards
You can configure all parameters in the configuration file:
-
Spawn rates based on explored chunk counts
-
Minimum and maximum meteor limits
-
Center core reward intervals.
The system uses a weighted selection algorithm for rare items. You can add regular blocks or entities:
-
Standard blocks with high relative weights
-
Modded blocks with custom drop rates
-
Dragon egg entities with complete NBT data.
