MineColonies Food Variety Fix
MineColonies Food Variety Fix is a small NeoForge addon that fixes a food-history bookkeeping bug in MineColonies that can cause citizens to repeatedly eat the same foods and complain about insufficient meal variety even when a Dining Hall has access to a variety of foods.
What does it fix?
MineColonies keeps a history of each citizen's 10 most recently eaten foods and uses that history when managing food diversity.
In MineColonies 1.1.1374, the method responsible for retrieving a citizen's most recently eaten food instead retrieves the oldest entry in that history.
This addon corrects that behavior so MineColonies properly identifies the citizen's actual most recently eaten food.
Results
The fix was tested in a survival colony that was experiencing repeated-food streaks and food-variety complaints.
Before the fix, one affected citizen's 10-meal history contained only 3 unique foods, including 7 consecutive servings of the same food.
After applying the fix and allowing the entire food history to cycle, the same citizen reached 8 unique foods out of the last 10 meals.
Multiple citizens throughout the colony were subsequently checked and consistently maintained a diversity of 8 without observed Dining Hall food-variety complaints.
Lightweight by design
This addon does not replace or redesign MineColonies' food system.
MineColonies continues to handle its normal:
-
Dining Hall logistics
-
food requests
-
chef behavior
-
meal selection
-
food batching
-
diversity calculations
The addon only corrects which existing food-history entry MineColonies considers the most recently eaten food.
There is no additional ticking, polling, inventory scanning, networking, configuration, or persistent data.
Requirements
-
Minecraft 1.21.1
-
NeoForge
-
MineColonies 1.1.1374
-
MineColonies' normal dependencies
Installation
Place the JAR in your mods folder alongside MineColonies.
No configuration is required.
Compatibility
Version 1.0.0 is specifically built and tested against MineColonies 1.1.1374.
Because the fix targets an internal MineColonies class using a Mixin, other MineColonies versions are not considered compatible until tested.
Tested in All the Mods 10 8.1 using NeoForge 21.1.249.
