About

Description

This mod adds a variety of written books to chest loot, containing thematically-appropriate texts such as traditional miner folk songs or excerpts from classic literature about mining or the working class. (Currently there are 19 different books to collect.)

It is a simple mod designed to not interfere with vanilla loot or loot added by any other mods, and to be easily added to any modpack. The books will only generate on top of whatever existing loot already generates.
Chests in stronghold libraries will contain a larger number of books than regular dungeon chests.

On 1.19, books will also be found in structures generated by Twilight Forest, Dungeon Crawl, Better Desert Temples, Better Dungeons, Better Strongholds, Better Witch Huts, Apotheosis, The Conjurer, and It Takes a Pillage.

If the Champions mod is present, champions will also drop a written book when defeated, in addition to any other loot they are configured to drop.

New: Books can now be "Tattered" (common), "Copy of Copy" (uncommon), "Copy of Original" (rare), or "Original" (extremely rare).

Here is the list of all books included so far:

- Blue Diamond Mines (Jean Ritchie)
- Mining Camp Blues (Kate Campbell)
- Coal Miner's Blues (Unknown)
- Come All You Coal Miners (Sarah Ogan Gunning)
- Digger's Song (Gerrard Winstanley)
- Dark As a Dungeon (Merle Travis)
- Germinal (Émile Zola)
- Sprinkle Coal Dust On My Grave (Orville J. Jenks)
- The Iron Ore Miners (Anonymous)
- Only a Miner (Unknown)
- In Those Mines (Valerie Smith)
- The Mountain (Steve Earle)
- Prayer of A Miner's Child (Shirley Hill)
- Question From a Worker Who Reads (Bertolt Brecht)
- The Testimony of Patience Kershaw (Frank Higgins)
- Sixteen Tons (Merle Travis)
- Underground (Tom Waits)
- Voices From the Mountains (Ruthie Gordon)
- What She Aims to Be (Unknown)

Any suggestions for additional texts that would fit in well with those are welcome!

For 1.12: The books can be added as a datapack for the mod Lost Books. Download it here: Miner Lore Lost Books
