Description

Mining Plus : Unbound

An add-on that takes the brakes off. Bedrock, portal frames, spawners and anything standing in the way all go with the swing.

Unbound is an extension, not a standalone pack. On its own it does nothing at all. It needs one of these underneath it:

Install Unbound next to either one and it rewrites what that enchantment is allowed to touch. One download patches both — you don't need a different version depending on which you run.

What it changes

The unbreakable list is gone. Bedrock, reinforced deepslate, barriers, end portal frames, end portals and gateways, spawners, trial spawners, vaults, and command and structure blocks are all fair game now. If it's in your area, it breaks.

They drop themselves. Blocks that normally leave nothing behind are given real drops — break bedrock, get bedrock. This only applies when the tool carries a Mining Plus enchantment, so mining a spawner by hand still behaves exactly as vanilla does.

Entities break too. Anything caught inside a block is destroyed with it, and the kill is credited to you, so mobs still drop their loot and their experience. Item frames, armour stands, minecarts, boats and displays all come apart the same way. Your own drops and experience orbs are never touched.

What it deliberately leaves alone

Tier rules still apply. Obsidian still wants a diamond pickaxe, exactly as it always has. Bedrock never had a tier requirement to begin with, so any pickaxe will do — that's not an exception, that's just how the block is defined.

Containers stay protected. Chests, barrels, shulker boxes, furnaces, hoppers and the rest are still skipped. Breaking them would silently void everything inside, and losing a shulker of gear is not a feature. Mine them by hand.

Requirements

Load order matters

Unbound works by overriding parts of the base pack, and a data pack can only override packs loaded before it. Put it last:

/datapack enable "file/Mining Plus (Unbound)" last

If it sits above the base pack in the list instead, it will load without errors and nothing will change.

Warnings

This pack hands you blocks the game never intended you to hold, and lets you delete the ones holding your world together. A few things worth knowing before you swing:

  • Breaking an end portal or end gateway block destroys that portal. There is no undo.
  • Removing bedrock at the bottom of the world lets you fall into the void.
  • Command blocks, structure blocks and jigsaws will drop as items. Players still can't edit them without operator permission, but they'll be in inventories.
  • Entity breaking does not care whose mob it is. Pets, villagers and horses standing in the area will die.

Made for creative building, world editing and messing about. Think twice before putting it on a survival server.

The Mining Plus series

Three packs, built to slot together. Pick one base pack, then stack Unbound on top if you want the rules gone.

Mining Plus

The original. One treasure enchantment that breaks a 3x3 in the plane you're facing, for pickaxes, axes, shovels and hoes. Fortune and Silk Touch work properly because drops come from each block's real loot table, ore XP matches vanilla, and durability costs exactly what mining all nine blocks by hand would have cost. Sneak to mine a single block. Hoes till a 3x3 and shovels path a 3x3 on right-click. Found in ancient cities, buried treasure, desert pyramids and jungle temples, or traded by librarians.

Mining Plus (Extra)

The bigger sibling, and a straight replacement for the original — its level I is identical to the whole of Mining Plus. Three levels: 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7, up to 49 blocks in one swing. Durability is priced by distance, so the inner ring costs 1 point per block, the middle 2 and the outer 3 — a 7x7 costs 113, meaning a diamond pickaxe manages about ten swings. Higher levels are genuinely rarer: chest books are weighted 6 : 3 : 1, and each level is a separate librarian trade gated behind villager rank, with level III locked to Expert.

Mining Plus: Unbound

This pack. The add-on above.
