About
Description
Hello everyone! This is my first mod ever, so I am excited and open to whatever feedback I can get!
Become a dark lord with a horde at your command. Harvest coloured lifeforce from everything you kill, summon minions from a Minion Gate, and point your Overlord's Gauntlet at whatever you want smashed, chopped, mined, looted or built.
Inspired by the classic dark-lord games. All art, models, names and code are original.
The four minions
- Browns – fighters and labourers. They wear whatever armour and weapons you give them (or find), and they mine, chop, hunt, farm and build.
- Reds – keep their distance and hurl fireballs that set enemies alight. Immune to fire and lava; they absorb fires to grow stronger.
- Greens – assassins. They fade from sight when standing still, stalk their prey, pounce for double damage from behind and ride big enemies' backs.
- Blues – the only swimmers. They revive fallen minions with all their gear and levels, and hit supernatural creatures twice as hard.
Minions level up, keep their gear when stored in the gate, and every colour has four upgrade tiers.
Commanding the horde
- Send minions at a creature, a tree, an ore vein, a loot chest or a fire with one click
- Sweep: hold a key and the horde rushes where you aim, with a raised tactical camera
- Guard markers, recall, squads by colour, and a full command menu
- Loot! raids dungeon chests, mineshaft carts and pots, and brings it all back to your loot chest
Putting them to work
- Mine planner: a whole crew digs a 3×3, 5×5 or 7×7 spiral shaft down to bedrock with a fenced, walled stairway, then tunnels out from the bottom. Torches, real stairs with a Mason's Kit, and full packs hauled up to your chest
- Jobs: mining, lumber (with replanting), hunting (spares a breeding pair), farming, gathering, tunnels and strip mines
- Minion Posts: station up to 5 minions to guard or work an area while you're away
- Overlord's Blueprint: browns build an Outpost Hut, Watchtower, Storehouse or Barracks from your chests
Hives
Wild hives of each colour grow in the world (brown in forests, red in the Nether, green in swamps and jungles, blue on the sea floor), guarded by waves of minions and a Hive Warden. Break one, tame its core with an Eye of Ender, and set it up at home. Reds, greens and blues are unlocked by their tamed hive (configurable).
The Dark Tower
Set down a Tower Heart and up to 12 browns raise your tower block by block in seven stages: Undercroft, Throne Hall, Portal Hall, Forge, Kitchen, Bedchambers, Library and Crown. Each stage unlocks something: barracks, gate travel, the Soul Forge (sacrifice seasoned minions for gauntlet upgrades and the Overlord's armour) and a protective aura.
Getting started
New players get an Overlord's Primer (an in-game guide), a Gauntlet and enough lifeforce for their first browns. An advancement tab walks you through the first steps. With JEI installed, every item has an info page.
Compatibility
- Forge 1.20.1 (47.x). Install on both the server and every player's game.
- Built and tested alongside a 400+ mod pack. Creatures from other mods get a fitting lifeforce colour automatically.
- Multiplayer: every player is their own Overlord. Hordes don't fight each other unless
minionPvpis turned on. - Lots of options in
minionhorde-common.tomlandminionhorde-client.toml. - Optional: JEI.
