Custom Biome Generation for Modern Beta Forge 1.12.2!

An add-on for Modern Beta Forge for 1.12.2 (versions 1.9.0.0 or later) which adds Voronoi-based biome generation with customizable biome maps through an in-game visual editor. Includes options to generate climatic biome maps that are mod-friendly!

Usage

For quick usage, customize the Modern Beta world type, then go to Presets, and finally select from one of the provided presets:

  • Vanilla Climatic -- A simple biome map that uses most vanilla biomes.
  • Beta Climatic -- A biome map that replicates Beta biome distribution.

Alternatively, you can create and modify your own custom biome maps by selecting the Voronoi biome source option and opening the Biome Map editor from the Add-on tab. The mod features a visual editor that allows users to quickly create, modify, and understand how biomes are placed.

Either create your own biome map from scratch or generate an approximate climate map based on biomes' built-in temperature and rainfall values. Certain types of elevation-based biomes are excluded (e.g. hills, mountains, oceans, etc.), which can adjusted from the mod's config menu.

You can also adjust biome size by increasing/decreasing the temperature, rainfall, and detail scale values.

Server Usage

The following should be done in the server.properties file:

  • Set the 'levelType' field to 'modernbeta', without the quotes.
  • Set generation options in the 'generator-settings' field. You can create the generator options string using the in-game GUI.
