Sightbound Spawns changes hostile mob spawning so monsters prefer places that matter to players. Hidden underground spawn piles are reduced, while threats can still appear behind you. The result is cleaner gameplay and better performance in busy areas.
Neoforge is a fork of the Minecraft Forge available for versions 1.20.1+ of Minecraft. Many Forge mods are compatible with Neoforge and vice versa.

Description
Sightbound Spawns is a NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.11 that improves hostile mob spawning around players.
Instead of allowing monsters to pile up in hidden places like underground caves far outside the player's awareness, this mod checks whether a spawn is actually relevant to nearby players. Hostile mobs can still appear behind players to keep survival tense, but spawns that happen in blocked or unseen locations can be prevented.
This helps reduce wasteful hidden mob buildup and can improve performance on lower-end machines or busy worlds.
How it works
- Hostile natural spawns are limited to a configurable radius around players
- Spawns in front of a player can require direct line of sight
- Spawns behind the player can still be allowed
- A configurable local monster cap prevents excessive mob buildup near players
- In multiplayer, the local cap scales with nearby players so shared areas do not feel empty
Config options
- maxSpawnDistance
- allowSpawnsBehindPlayer
- requireLineOfSightInFront
- baseMonsterCap
- extraMonsterCapPerNearbyPlayer
Good for
- Survival servers
- Multiplayer co-op worlds
- Lower-end PCs
- Players who want fewer hidden mobs without removing danger
