About
Description
I was playing Minecraft my girlfriend, and I had a beautiful soundtrack moment. Looked over at my girlfriend and said, "Isn't this song so perfect?" and she said, "What song?" So was born Music Sync.
Music Sync is a lightweight Fabric mod that synchronizes Minecraft’s background music across an entire server, so every player hears the same track at the same time.
Instead of each client independently choosing when music starts, the server coordinates playback while still respecting Minecraft’s normal music rules.
Features
Server-Synchronized Music
All connected players hear the same background music track at the same time.
Respects Vanilla Music Rules
Music selection still follows Minecraft’s normal rules for dimensions, biomes, game states, and other situational music conditions.
Automatic Modded Music Support
Music added by other mods can be used automatically when those mods integrate with Minecraft’s normal music system.
Shared Eligibility Rules
A track only plays when it is valid for every connected player. If no shared track is currently valid, the server simply remains silent.
Longer Silence Between Tracks
Music Sync intentionally increases the downtime between songs to keep Minecraft’s soundtrack atmospheric instead of constantly playing.
Configurable Silence Times Server operators can configure the minimum and maximum silence between tracks with:
/musicsync silencemin <seconds>
/musicsync silencemax <seconds>
These settings are saved and persist across server restarts. Can also be configured in the config file, "musicsync.properties".
Manual Testing Command
Operators and the server console can use:
/musicsync play
This immediately starts another currently valid synchronized track. It can replace a song that is already playing and still follows the normal music eligibility rules.
Vanilla Now Playing Toasts
Synchronized songs use Minecraft’s normal music notification system and respect the player’s Music Toast setting.
Jukebox & Note Block Suppression
When a player is near a jukebox, note block, or compatible modded device using Minecraft’s RECORDS sound category, synchronized background music fades out locally and fades back in.
The song continues playing silently in the background so synchronization is preserved.
Compatible With Modded Music Devices
Modded jukeboxes, speakers, radios, or similar devices can automatically suppress background music if they use Minecraft’s normal RECORDS sound category.
Server Logging
Whenever a synchronized track begins, the server logs which music event is currently playing
Requirements
Minecraft Java Edition 26.2
Fabric Loader
Fabric API
Music Sync must be installed on both the server and connecting clients.
