About
Description
Mysterious Merchant lets you create living shops anywhere. Place the Mysterious Merchant Job Block (Tools & Utilities), let a villager claim it, then use the Trades Tuner to configure 10 fully custom trades, a custom name, and a hex color. Your merchant keeps his visible name tag, unlimited trade uses, and normal villager AI. He wanders, works at his station, interacts with the world, and won't despawn—but you decide what he sells. Fence him in for a market stall or let him roam.
Built for dedicated servers. You don't need to hand out operator privileges to let friends run shops. The tuner itself has no OP-level requirement, but distributing it does: only OP Level 4 can give it out via /mmerchant givetuner <player>, and the built-in Give Blocker prevents /give bypasses. Once a trusted player has a tuner, they can configure shops without OP, and the server re-validates tuner possession on every trade edit and save. Creative mode alone doesn't bypass authorization.
Under the hood, Mysterious Merchant is built for real multiplayer. Trades, names, and colors are hashed and stored with the job block, and the merchant retains his shop identity through chunk unloads. If the job block is broken, a five-minute grace period allows the mod to find a nearby valid replacement before clearing the association.
No command blocks, no datapack reloads—just place, tune, and trade.
