Mythic Beasts
Tame legendary creatures, ride them, put them to work, and forge armor from what they give you.
Mythic Beasts adds five rideable beasts, each with its own way of being tamed, its own gear and its own job. They don't just look good: they make power for your machines, dig your tunnels, purify your ores and guard your base. Everything you build in the mod's tech line comes back to the beasts.
The Beasts
Little Black Dragon: call it with a dragon lure and saddle it to tame it. Flies with climb, dive, boost, dash and air brake. You can dye it, cut scales off it for a bound horn, axe and shield, and give it a spiked or aerodynamic tail.
Kirin: a rare glimmering wanderer that trusts only a monk with no weapons in the hotbar. Gallops and runs on thin air. Its breath purifies ores in the purification bowl. You can dye its mane, hang a pendant on its antlers and give it a sacred flame in one of five colours.
Sculk Worm: rises from the ground when you use a sculk lure. Tunnels through anything where you look, stores ore in up to 8 chests and crawls up walls and through lava. Jaws, tail tips and its size can be upgraded. You can dye it too.
Giant Spider: tamed with a control center. Fast and spits web: each hit entangles more, and the third wraps the target in a cocoon. It drops silk and legs for a glider, a grappling hook and robotic climbing legs.
Stone Golem: you build it block by block out of stone and wake it with a core. Punches with both fists, grabs mobs and throws them, and leaps to crack the ground. What you build it from changes its stats.
Plus the Mimic: lock a key in a chest and it wakes up to farm the crops around it.
Beast-Powered Tech
- Power Wheel: beasts walk it to make energy, from 30 RF/t (kirin) up to 250 RF/t (dragon), up to four at once.
- Machines: crusher, alloy smelter and smelter. Ores become dust, then steel, electrum steel, royal alloy and master alloy.
- Cables, item pipes and batteries in 5 tiers: from purified copper up to master alloy, carrying up to 1,000,000 RF/s. Item pipes move up to 2048 items per pull, and batteries store up to 130 MRF.
- Copper cables and pipes weather like copper and carry less as they oxidise. An axe scrapes them clean.
- Set every side of a machine on a small 3D model of it, and set up cables with a wrench.
The Forge & Beast Armor
Build the multiblock Forge, power it, cast a blank and shape it with a smith's hammer on the anvil.
| Set | Highlights |
|---|---|
| Spider | Climb walls, cling to ceilings, let yourself down on a thread, wrap foes in cocoons |
| Sculk | Sense life through walls, sonic pulse when hurt, wardens ignore you, heal in the dark |
| Dragon | Immune to fire, burning blows, damage reflected back, triple jump on wings, no fall damage |
Each piece has its own gift, and the Sculk and Dragon sets get a bonus when worn as a full set.
And More
Dragon Gauntlet (breathe fire), Cloud Staff, Kirin Bell, Echo Anchor (teleport mark), Sculk Resonator, Sledgehammer, Long Arm, Cocoon Trap for carrying mobs, Fireflies in jars, a Peace Mantle that keeps monsters calm, and a full set of advancements.
