Description

This mod was created with one simple goal: to completely remove the recipe book from the game. Unlike other similar mods, it doesn't just hide the recipe book button — NERB entirely removes its functionality.

If you have a fully unlocked recipe book in a large modpack and run the /data get entity @s command, you'll notice the overwhelming amount of data it returns — most of which are recipe names. After installing this mod, these recipe names will be removed, significantly improving performance for mods like CraftTweaker or KubeJS (e.g., when using event.player.data in scripts). It also speeds up data synchronization between the server and client, and reduces the time it takes for players to join the world.
NERB offers multiple configurable functional modes:
- DISABLED: Completely removes the recipe book button from your inventory, along with its default functionality.
- ENABLED: Keeps the recipe book button in your inventory, but disables its default functionality, preventing recipe management through the book.
- DISCOVERED: Automatically unlocks all available recipes in your recipe book. No additional optimizations are applied in this mode.
- TOGGLE: The recipe book button remains in your inventory. Instead of toggling the recipe book, it now toggles the visibility of the JEI/REI/EMI interface. The default recipe book functionality is still disabled. This is a selected mode by default.

This mod was created for only one simple purpose - completely remove recipe book from the game. However, unlike other similar mods, this one does not just hide the recipe book button. NERB completely removes its functionality.
If you have a fully unlocked recipe book in a large modpack and run the command /data get entity @s, you will see how horrible the amount of data it gives (most of them are recipe names). However, after installing this mod, these recipe names will disappear, which greatly improves the performance of CraftTweaker / KubeJS (e.g. using event.player.data in event scripts) or other mods to read player data, and speeds up data sync between the server and the client & makes player join world faster.
This mod should be installed both on client- and server-side!
