Description
Orbis Novus: Terrain
Realistic mountains, eroded valleys and river networks. It adds one new world type, Orbis Novus, with ten terrain styles, a Custom Mix of any of them, and a Customize screen to tune the land your way. Caves, ores, structures and other mods' features should generate.
What it adds for players
- A new world type. When you create a world, press World Type and pick Orbis Novus.
- Ten styles:
- Green Vale: rolling green hills with oak woods and rivers.
- High Teeth: snowy alpine peaks over pine valleys.
- Far Spires: towering amplified spires and gorges.
- Skyreach: grassy islands floating over a shallow sea.
- Red Steps: terraced badlands canyons.
- Warm Shoals: jungle islands in a warm shallow sea.
- Verdigris Reach: a teal fungal alien world under needle spires.
- Grey Silence: a dead grey moon covered in craters.
- Painted Stillness: flat pastel-banded columns, like a sculpture field.
- Patchwork Earth: hills, alpine peaks, mesa steps and island seas, region by region.
- Custom Mix. Put any styles side by side, region by region. Each region keeps its own land, biomes and ground, blended at the borders.
- Real rivers and erosion. Valleys are carved by erosion, and rivers run in networks down to the sea.
- Grass and trees, ores, pools and structures can each be turned off.
- Natural features (26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3) in every world, not only Orbis Novus ones: redwoods, willows, baobabs, twisted pines, a rare world tree, rocks, fallen logs, standing stones, sea stacks, hot springs and waterfalls. With a wood mod like Biomes O' Plenty, its logs can stand in for vanilla wood.
What it gives pack makers and server owners
- Server setup in
server.properties:level-typepicks the style, andgenerator-settingstakes the JSON from the Customize screen's Copy button. - Everything is datapack JSON: the shape of each style, its surface blocks, its biome rules and where each natural feature grows. Packs can reshape a style or add a world type of their own.
- Natural features are placed by biome tag. Empty a tag to turn that feature off.
Compatibility
- Orbis Novus: Dungeons: its dungeons, settlements, castles and citadels generate in every Orbis Novus world.
- Structure and feature mods keep working, since the world runs on the vanilla generator.
- Biome mods: Orbis Novus worlds use their own biome rules. Normal worlds are unchanged.
