Description

Ore Renewal

Ore Renewal is a server-side NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that applies newly added modded ore generation to already-existing chunks.

When an ore-producing mod is added to a long-running modpack, players normally have to travel far beyond explored territory to find its resources. Ore Renewal detects the new ore placed features and safely applies them as existing chunks are loaded.

Features

  • Automatically detects newly added ore placed-feature IDs.
  • Supports established worlds with a mixed mod history.
  • Remembers completed migrations separately for every world and dimension.
  • Never applies the same migration twice to a completed chunk.
  • Excludes newly generated chunks because normal world generation already handled them.
  • Preserves each ore feature's normal height, rarity, biome, dimension, and replacement rules.
  • Recognizes standard ore generators and Mekanism's supported custom ore generator.
  • Prevents large chunk-loader queues from starving player-loaded areas.
  • Throttles processing to reduce server lag.
  • No client-side installation is required when connecting to a dedicated server.

Existing-world safety

Ore Renewal does not rerun the chunk generator, terrain noise, surfaces, carvers, structures, or general biome decoration. It invokes only detected ore-generation features.

Existing air, tunnels, containers, machines, block entities, and blocks that the ore does not declare replaceable remain untouched.

Minecraft does not record whether an ordinary stone, deepslate, netherrack, or similar block was placed by a player. If a build uses a block that an ore explicitly considers replaceable, it cannot be distinguished perfectly from natural terrain. Always back up important worlds before running any world migration.

Installation

  1. Back up the world.
  2. Install Ore Renewal in the server or singleplayer instance.
  3. Start the world normally.
  4. Existing chunks are processed as they load.

A new world only records its initial baseline. An established world can perform a one-time conservative recovery for already-installed non-vanilla ore features. Mods added later are detected through exact persisted feature revisions.

Commands

Check migration and queue status:

/ore_renewal status

Apply a specific detected feature:

/ore_renewal apply mysticalagriculture:inferium_ore
/ore_renewal apply mysticalagriculture:prosperity_ore
/ore_renewal apply draconicevolution:end_draconium_ore

After typing /ore_renewal apply , press Tab to list the placed features detected in the installed modpack.

Apply all detected non-vanilla ore features conservatively:

/ore_renewal apply-all-modded

Save migration progress immediately:

/ore_renewal checkpoint

Tested compatibility

Ore Renewal has been tested on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge and a large existing modpack containing Mekanism, Mekanism Extras, Mystical Agriculture, Draconic Evolution, Oritech, Extreme Reactors, Create-family mods, Terralith, and multiple dimensions.
