About
Description
Orogenesis is a data pack that aims for a balance between realism and performance while maintaining compatibility.
Features
Expanded World Height
The world now extends from Y -64 to Y 640.
Because of the larger mountains, the cloud height is from Y 192 to Y 256 if you're playing in 1.21.6 or higher.
Mountains
- Mountains are approximately 2 times as high and 3 times as wide as in vanilla.
- Mountains now generate in ranges, similar to rivers.
Continents
Continents now generate in three sizes:
- Small: approximately 1,000-2,000 blocks wide
- Medium: approximately 10,000-20,000 blocks wide
- Large: approximately 50,000-100,000 blocks wide
It is possible to spawn in an ocean.
Rivers
Rivers are 3 times as wide.
Larger Biomes
Biomes are approximately 16 (4x4) times larger.
Oceans
Deep oceans are even deeper, reaching down to deepslate.
Recommended Mods
- Distant Horizons for a higher render distance.
- Optimization mods.
Compatibility
Biome Mods/Data Packs
Data packs that modify world generation, like Tectonic or Lithosphere, are not compatible.
Data packs that add biomes to the overworld are not compatible. Data packs that change biomes without altering the surface rule (e.g., changing blocks that are painted on the terrain, such as grass and then dirt in most biomes, while deserts have sand and sandstone) are compatible.
Terralith is compatible when using the mod version.
Mods that add biomes and change the surface rule through modding (like BOP and WWOO) are compatible.
Mods that change biomes without altering the surface rule, or change it through modding, are compatible.
For compatibility, place it above mod data.
Other
If it doesn't change world generation with noise settings, it should be compatible.
