Patch Notes
Every 5 minutes the game patches itself. Each patch throws 1-5 random changes at your world, and they're permanent. Some help, some hurt, some are just stupid. They stack, so an hour in you're playing a completely different game than the one you started.
Everyone gets a Clipboard with the full changelog. Green is a buff, red is a nerf, gray is neutral.
What can happen
There are 120+ hand-written patches, plus random game rules, potion effects, attribute changes, drop swaps and villager trade scrambles. A few examples:
- Wall Climb: climb walls like a spider
- Hydra: hostile mobs split into more mobs when they die
- Midas Touch: mined blocks sometimes drop bonus gold
- Vampire Sun: daylight burns you unless you're wearing a helmet
- Double Drops: every block drop is duplicated
- Butterfingers: your inventory reshuffles itself every minute
- Pocket Totem: any item in your inventory can save you from a fatal hit
- Angry Hive: bees are permanently enraged at players
- Costume Party: mobs sometimes spawn as a different mob
- Note Block Steps: your footsteps become random note block sounds
A lot of patches roll their own strength, so the same patch can be mild in one world and brutal in another.
Coins
- Revert Coin: undo an earlier patch
- Force Coin: pick 1 of 3 offered patches and make it happen
- Executive Pardon: a reusable Revert Coin for killing the Ender Dragon
Coins get handed out randomly, with a pity timer that guarantees a Revert Coin every 15 patches. They also show up rarely in chests, except in villages.
Twitch voting
Streamers can let chat pick the next patch. Near the end of each interval chat gets a few options and votes by typing a number. It reads chat anonymously, so no bot account or token is needed. Set it up in the config.
Commands
/patchnotes book: get a Clipboard (anyone)/patchnotes timer: toggle a boss bar showing time to the next patch (anyone)/patchnotes start/stop: run or pause the schedule (op)/patchnotes next: force a patch now (op)/patchnotes reset: undo everything (op)/patchnotes status: check the scheduler (op)
Config
Interval, max changes per patch, which patch types are enabled, good/bad bias and Twitch settings are all in the config, and you can edit them from the in-game mod screen.
Patches are permanent per world. Use /patchnotes reset if you want to start over.
