Description

Peerless

Peerless lets you open a Minecraft 1.21.1 singleplayer world to friends with a short room code. You do not need a dedicated Minecraft server or manual router port forwarding.

Peerless is currently in beta. Back up important worlds before testing it.

Loader and platform support

Peerless supports Fabric and NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1:

  • Fabric Loader 0.15.11 or newer with Fabric API
  • NeoForge 21.1.235 or newer in the 21.1 branch

Minecraft 1.21.1 requires Java 21.

Each loader has one universal JAR with WebRTC support for:

  • Windows x86-64
  • Linux x86-64, ARM64, and ARM32
  • macOS x86-64 and Apple Silicon

Fabric and NeoForge players can connect to each other. Everyone must use the same Peerless version, Minecraft version, and compatible gameplay mods.

Features

  • Open a singleplayer world from the pause menu
  • Join from the multiplayer menu with an eight-character room code
  • Play with one host and up to three guests
  • Change the game mode, cheats, and whitelist from the host menu
  • Choose between Online, Offline, and Offline + UUID Fixer authentication
  • Check integrated-server performance with /p2ptps
  • Recover automatically from short network interruptions
  • Release abandoned connection slots automatically

Hosting a world

  1. Enter a singleplayer world and open the pause menu.
  2. Select Peerless.
  3. Configure the host settings.
  4. Create a room and send its code to up to three friends.

Joining a world

  1. Open Multiplayer.
  2. Select Join by room code.
  3. Enter the code shared by the host.

How connections work

The signaling service exchanges temporary WebRTC setup messages and room information. Minecraft traffic then travels directly between the host and each guest whenever their networks allow it. Peerless does not route gameplay through the signaling server.

WebRTC shares the network address information needed to establish the connection. Strict NAT, firewall rules, or blocked UDP traffic can prevent a direct connection. The signaling service and public STUN services must be reachable while creating or joining a room.

The world remains on the host's computer and the room closes when the host leaves the world or shuts down the game.

Troubleshooting

  • Signaling server is unavailable: Check your internet connection and try again later.
  • Room not found: Check the code or ask the host to create a new room.
  • Version mismatch: Install the same Minecraft and Peerless versions.
  • Login fails or freezes: Check that both clients use compatible gameplay and networking mods.

Minecraft logs are stored in logs/latest.log. Remove account tokens and unrelated personal information before sharing a log.
