Description

Pocket Factories

Big Factories. Small Spaces. Endless Possibilities!

Ever wished you could fit an entire industrial complex inside a single Minecraft block?

With Pocket Factories, you can!

Pocket Factories lets you create fully functional, expandable factory rooms hidden inside compact blocks placed anywhere in your Minecraft world.

Step inside, build your machines, organize your production lines, and connect your factory to the outside world using configurable item, fluid, energy, and redstone interfaces.

Whether you're building a small automated workshop, an organized storage facility, or a massive industrial processing complex, Pocket Factories gives you room to expand without covering your entire base in machinery.

Your factory. Your machines. Your imagination. All inside one block!

What Does a Pocket Factory Block Include?

A Pocket Factory is much more than an ordinary Minecraft block.

When you place one, it creates a permanent factory identity connected to a real, persistent interior room in the Pocket Factories dimension.

Every factory includes:

  • A Private Factory Interior: Your own enclosed room where you can place blocks, install machinery, and build automation systems.

  • Expandable Space: Upgrade your factory to larger tiers without rebuilding supported existing machinery.

  • Built-In Entrance: Enter your factory directly through its exterior control interface.

  • Six Configurable Exterior Faces: Set up connections for items, fluids, energy, or redstone.

  • Interior Connection Interfaces: Connect supported machines and storage to the corresponding exterior ports.

  • Factory Management Controls: Configure connections, check factory status, and manage available actions.

  • Built-In Diagnostics: Find out why a connection isn't working.

  • Integrated Player Guide: Access searchable instructions directly in the game.

  • Multiplayer Permissions: Control who can enter or manage your factory.

  • Factory Relocation: Pack your factory's entrance and move it without dismantling the interior.

  • Persistence and Recovery Safeguards: Protect factory identities and saved construction across supported lifecycle operations.

What Doesn't Come With the Factory?

Your Pocket Factory starts as a room for you to develop.

It does not automatically include:

  • Furnaces, crushers, smelters, or processing machines.

  • Free electricity or energy generation.

  • Unlimited resource storage.

  • Automatic item or fluid production.

  • Prebuilt processing lines.

  • Automatic chunk loading.

  • Machines or inventories copied from your existing base.

You'll need to supply your own machinery, materials, storage, and automation equipment.

Pocket Factories provides the space, entrance, and connections. You build everything else!

Three Expandable Factory Tiers

Start with a small workshop and expand as your needs grow.

Factory Tier Interior Dimensions
Basic Factory 7 × 7 × 7
Advanced Factory 15 × 15 × 15
Industrial Factory 31 × 31 × 31

These are the clear interior dimensions available for construction.

Basic Factory — 7 × 7 × 7

Perfect for getting started!

Build a compact storage room, small furnace workshop, or basic machine setup.

Advanced Factory — 15 × 15 × 15

Ready to expand?

The Advanced Factory offers substantially more space for processing equipment, automation lines, and storage systems.

Industrial Factory — 31 × 31 × 31

Go big without taking over your base!

The Industrial Factory provides an enormous interior for large-scale machinery, interconnected production lines, and elaborate industrial builds.

Upgrade Without Starting Over

One of Pocket Factories' biggest features is the ability to expand your existing room.

When you upgrade:

  • The interior grows around your existing construction.

  • Supported machinery remains in its original location.

  • Existing supported inventories and machine configurations are preserved.

  • You retain the same factory identity.

  • You don't have to dismantle your production lines and start over.

Important: Some modded blocks depend on walls, attachments, or special structures. If an upgrade cannot safely preserve those dependencies, Pocket Factories may refuse the upgrade rather than risk damaging your construction.

Getting Started — Your First Pocket Factory

Step 1: Craft Your Factory

Start by crafting a Basic Factory using its Survival crafting recipe.

Use your recipe book to view the required materials and progression.

Step 2: Choose a Location

Find a suitable location in your world.

You only need space for the exterior factory block, but you may want additional room for pipes, cables, storage, and other connections.

Place the factory block like a normal Minecraft block.

Pocket Factories will register the new factory and initialize its interior. Initial room construction may take a short time.

Wait until the factory reports that initialization is complete.

Step 3: Open the Factory Controls

Interact with the exterior factory block to open its management interface.

From here you can view factory information, access available controls, configure exterior connections, and open the player guide.

Step 4: Enter Your Factory

Use the entrance control to enter the factory interior.

You'll arrive inside your own enclosed pocket-dimension room.

You can now begin placing blocks and building your factory.

Step 5: Install Your Machinery

Build whatever your production system requires.

For example, you might install:

  • Vanilla furnaces and storage chests.

  • Compatible technology-mod machines.

  • Item-processing equipment.

  • Fluid storage and handling equipment.

  • Energy storage systems.

  • Redstone-controlled automation.

Arrange your equipment just as you would in a normal Minecraft base.

Step 6: Connect Your Factory

Use the interior connection interfaces and configure the exterior faces to connect your machinery with compatible systems outside.

See the connection guide below for details.

Step 7: Expand When Needed

When your factory becomes crowded, obtain the appropriate upgrade and use the factory's upgrade controls.

Pocket Factories will expand your existing interior while preserving supported construction and machinery.

Congratulations! You've built your first Pocket Factory!

Connecting Your Factory to the Outside World

Just because your machines are inside a pocket dimension doesn't mean they need to be isolated.

Every factory provides six configurable exterior faces corresponding to the six Minecraft directions:

  • North

  • South

  • East

  • West

  • Up

  • Down

Each face can be configured independently for a supported connection type and direction.

Supported Connections

Item Connections

Move items between your factory and compatible external inventories or transport systems.

For example:

Outside storage → Factory item interface → Interior storage or machinery

Items can also travel outward using the appropriate configuration.

Fluid Connections

Connect supported fluid tanks and equipment across the factory boundary.

For example:

Outside fluid system → Factory fluid interface → Interior fluid tank

Actual transfers depend on the connected equipment's capabilities and available capacity.

Energy Connections

Supply power to compatible machinery inside your factory or transfer stored energy outward.

For example:

Outside power system → Factory energy interface → Interior energy storage

The NeoForge edition uses its supported energy resource interface.

The Fabric edition uses Fabric-compatible energy integration.

The factory block does not generate energy. It connects compatible energy-handling systems.

Redstone Connections

Send supported redstone signals between the exterior and interior.

Redstone connections support standard signal levels from 0 through 15.

Use them to operate switches, trigger equipment, or control automation.

How to Configure Factory Ports

Step 1: Open the Factory Management Interface

Interact with your exterior factory block.

Navigate to the port configuration controls.

Step 2: Select an Exterior Face

Choose which of the six world directions you want to configure.

For example, if your external transport system is connected to the north side, select North.

Step 3: Choose a Connection Type

Select the supported channel you want that face to expose:

  • Items

  • Fluids

  • Energy

  • Redstone

  • Disabled

Each face uses its selected connection configuration.

Step 4: Configure Transfer Direction

Choose the appropriate input, output, or supported bidirectional behavior for your setup.

Use the interface's direction labels to determine how the connection should operate.

For example, an input connection receives compatible resources through the configured direction, while an output connection makes resources available outward.

Step 5: Connect Interior Equipment

Inside the factory, connect your compatible machinery or storage to the corresponding interior interface.

Check that the connected equipment supports the resource type and side configuration you selected.

Step 6: Connect Exterior Equipment

Outside the factory, attach compatible pipes, cables, inventories, tanks, or other automation equipment.

Step 7: Check Diagnostics

Use the factory's diagnostic interface to confirm that the connection is available.

Important: A factory port is a connection bridge, not an automatic resource generator or universal pump.

Your machines, tanks, pipes, or other automation equipment must still provide the actual resources and supported transfer behavior.

Improved Factory Management

Pocket Factories 0.2.0 introduces an improved control interface organized into four sections.

The updated controls make managing your factory easier without requiring external documentation.

You can access factory information, configure exterior faces, investigate connection problems, and open the integrated guide.

Depending on your permissions, you can also manage upgrades, factory access, and relocation.

The interface displays information such as:

  • Current factory tier.

  • Factory lifecycle status.

  • Interior loading state.

  • Exterior port configurations.

  • Available connection information.

  • Your current access permissions.

  • Factory management actions.

All important changes are checked by the server.

Built-In Factory Diagnostics

Having trouble getting items, fluids, or energy into your factory?

Pocket Factories includes built-in diagnostics to help you figure out what's wrong.

Instead of guessing why a connection isn't functioning, open the Diagnostics section of your factory controls.

The system can identify several common conditions.

Diagnostic What It Means
Ready The configured connection and required endpoints are available
Disabled The selected face is disabled
Interior Unloaded The factory's interior endpoint isn't currently loaded and ticking
Exterior Unavailable A required exterior endpoint is unavailable
Backing Missing The expected connected block or machine is missing
Resource Unsupported The connected equipment doesn't expose the configured resource interface
Direction Blocked The current configuration prevents the requested transfer
Factory Initializing The factory is still being prepared
Factory Faulted The factory needs recovery or administrative attention
Connection Stale Previously available connection information is no longer valid

Understanding the Ready Status

Ready does not necessarily mean resources are actively moving.

It means the configured connection is available.

If nothing is moving, check whether the connected machines actually contain resources, have sufficient capacity, and are configured to transfer them.

Safe Diagnostics

Diagnostics do not extract resources simply to test a connection.

They also do not automatically load unloaded factory interiors.

This helps prevent unnecessary server activity while providing useful troubleshooting information.

Important: How Chunk Loading Works

Pocket Factories does not automatically keep factory interiors loaded.

This is an important part of how the mod operates.

Minecraft normally loads and ticks world areas based on players and other legitimate loading mechanisms.

Pocket Factories follows those rules rather than secretly keeping every factory active.

When Does a Factory Operate?

Machines inside your factory operate while their required interior chunks are loaded and ticking.

External connections require the relevant interior and exterior endpoints to be available.

Example: A Player Inside the Factory

When you enter your factory, nearby interior chunks load normally.

Machinery in those loaded and ticking chunks can operate.

However, external connections also require their exterior endpoints to remain loaded.

Example: Nobody Inside the Factory

If the interior unloads after the last player leaves, the machinery inside stops operating until its chunks load again.

Example: Standing Outside

Standing beside the exterior factory block does not automatically load the interior.

Your factory may remain inactive even though you can see its exterior block.

Example: Multiplayer Automation

If one player is inside the factory and another is keeping the exterior area loaded, the corresponding endpoints may both be active.

This allows properly connected machines to interact across the factory boundary while both required areas remain loaded and ticking.

Pocket Factories is not a chunk loader.

This design helps prevent factory interiors from consuming server resources when they are not normally loaded.

Using Compatible Technology Mods

Pocket Factories is designed to work with compatible vanilla and modded machinery.

It uses the appropriate resource-handling systems for each supported loader.

Verified Mod Compatibility

Energized Power

Selected Energized Power item, fluid, and energy storage machinery has been tested.

Compatible configurations can interact with Pocket Factories resource interfaces.

Supported machinery has also been tested for preservation during factory upgrades.

Logistics: Automation

Selected components from Logistics: Automation 0.8.12 have been validated, including:

  • Copper Transport Pipes.

  • Item Extractor Pipes.

Tested configurations preserve their state and functionality through supported factory upgrades.

Applied Energistics 2 — NeoForge

Selected standalone AE2 alpha functionality and persistence have been tested.

However, AE2 machinery is not currently approved for factory tier upgrades.

Tech Reborn — Fabric

Selected Tech Reborn beta functionality and persistence have been tested.

However, Tech Reborn machinery is not currently approved for factory tier upgrades.

Compatibility Limitations

Not every machine or structure is supported.

Some technology mods use special block dependencies, multiblock structures, custom capabilities, or internal connection systems.

Pocket Factories does not guarantee universal compatibility with all third-party machinery.

If the mod cannot verify that a structure can safely survive expansion, it may refuse the upgrade.

This helps protect valuable machines and their contents.

Multiplayer and Factory Permissions

Pocket Factories supports multiplayer ownership and access controls.

Factories belong to their registered owners.

Available permissions include:

Owner

The owner has full management authority over the factory, including supported configuration, upgrades, packing, and relocation.

Trusted Members

Trusted players can access and manage permitted factory operations without receiving full owner authority.

Visitors

Visitors can enter and explore authorized factories but do not receive full management or construction permissions.

Unauthorized Players

Unauthorized players are restricted from protected factory access and operations.

Factory permissions are enforced on the server.

Client-side buttons alone do not determine whether a player is allowed to perform an action.

Portable Factories — Move Without Rebuilding

Need to relocate your factory?

Don't dismantle your entire interior!

Pocket Factories includes a packing and relinking system that allows you to move a factory's exterior entrance while preserving the interior.

How to Move Your Factory

Step 1: Prepare for Relocation

As the factory owner, inspect your current setup.

Make sure you understand which external pipes, cables, or connections will need to be reconnected at the new location.

Step 2: Pack the Factory

Open your factory controls and use the Pack option.

This safely unlinks the factory from its current exterior location and provides the factory's unique recovery credential.

Step 3: Preserve the Interior

Your factory's actual interior remains in the Pocket Factories dimension.

Its machinery, supported blocks, inventories, and saved construction remain associated with the factory's permanent identity.

Nothing is compressed into the recovery item.

Step 4: Choose a New Location

Travel to the location where you want your factory entrance.

Make sure the destination is valid and available.

Step 5: Relink Your Factory

Use the unique factory recovery kit to relink the factory at the new location through the supported recovery workflow.

Once relinking succeeds, the new exterior entrance connects to your existing interior.

Step 6: Reconnect Automation

Reconnect any external pipes, cables, tanks, or redstone equipment as needed.

Your existing interior construction remains associated with the same factory.

Important Relocation Rules

  • Packing does not empty the factory.

  • The factory interior does not physically move.

  • Machine inventories are not copied into the recovery item.

  • Each recovery kit is uniquely associated with a factory.

  • Recovery credentials cannot be reused to duplicate factories.

  • Packing and relinking require appropriate authorization.

  • The destination must pass the factory's safety checks.

  • Exterior automation may need to be reconnected.

  • Required chunks must still be loaded for machinery and ports to operate.

Always use the dedicated packing and relinking system when relocating.

Ordinary block breaking is not the intended relocation procedure.

Your factory stays intact. Only its entrance moves!

Troubleshooting Guide

My Factory Won't Open

Check that:

  1. The factory has completed initialization.

  2. You're interacting with the correct exterior block.

  3. You have permission to access it.

  4. The factory is not in a faulted lifecycle state.

If the factory reports a recovery problem, contact the owner or server administrator.

My Machines Aren't Running

Check that:

  1. The factory interior is loaded and ticking.

  2. The machines have their required fuel, power, or resources.

  3. The machines themselves are configured correctly.

  4. Any required external endpoints are also loaded.

Remember: Pocket Factories does not automatically load interiors.

Items Aren't Transferring

Check that:

  1. The correct exterior face is configured for items.

  2. The transfer direction is correct.

  3. Compatible machinery or storage is connected inside.

  4. Compatible transport or storage is connected outside.

  5. The source contains items.

  6. The destination has space.

  7. Both required endpoints are loaded.

Then open the Diagnostics section for additional information.

Fluids Aren't Transferring

Check the selected face, fluid connection direction, compatible tank or machine interfaces, available fluid, and destination capacity.

Not every modded fluid system exposes a compatible resource interface.

Energy Isn't Transferring

Check that the exterior face is configured for energy.

Verify that the connected machines use a compatible energy interface, have valid input/output settings, and are properly connected.

Remember that energy interfaces don't generate power themselves.

Redstone Isn't Working

Verify:

  1. The correct face.

  2. The redstone direction.

  3. The external signal source.

  4. The corresponding interior connection.

  5. Whether the required endpoints are loaded.

Unloaded connections cannot behave like normally ticking redstone circuits.

My Factory Upgrade Was Refused

An upgrade may be refused if a block or structure depends on part of the room that needs to change.

Check for machinery, pipes, attachments, or other blocks near the existing room boundaries.

Pocket Factories may reject an unsafe arrangement to protect your construction.

Do not assume that every modded machine is supported during expansion.

My Factory Reports a Fault

A fault may indicate that an operation was interrupted or that the factory's persistent records require attention.

Avoid attempting to bypass the condition by duplicating the exterior block or manipulating recovery items.

Server administrators have recovery procedures for supported fault conditions.

Back up the world and consult the operator recovery documentation if manual reconciliation is necessary.

Designed for Reliability

Your factory may contain hours of construction, valuable machinery, and important resources.

Pocket Factories includes safeguards designed to help protect those investments.

Features include:

  • Permanent, server-authoritative factory identities.

  • Protected in-place expansion.

  • Preserved supported block entities and machine data.

  • Transaction-aware resource handling.

  • Protection against duplicate factory anchors.

  • Single-use recovery credentials.

  • Recovery mechanisms for interrupted operations.

  • Persistent factory data across saves and restarts.
