Pretty Announcer

Announcements at the top centre of the screen instead of the chat: a see-through panel with an icon, an optional picture, a big countdown and a smooth slide-in animation.

Heads-up: this mod is vibe coded with the help of an AI assistant (Claude) and has only had light testing. Please report bugs in the comments.

Features

  • Automatic restart countdown: set your restart times and warning minutes (default 10 and 5 minutes before) in the config. The colour changes from amber to orange to pulsing red.
  • Regular announcements: repeating tips, rules or news, for example every 30 minutes. OPs can switch each one on/off, edit, add and delete them in the in-game menu.
  • Pictures: put PNG files on the server and show them left, centre or right in any announcement.
  • Design menu: press K to design an announcement (text, colour, icon, picture, duration) with a live preview and send it to everybody.
  • /announce works for everyone, even without the mod: /announce <text>, /announce <title> | <text>, /announce image <file> <left|center|right> <text>.
  • Optional on the client: players without the mod still get a boss bar and a chat line.
  • OP tools: /prettyannouncer test | next | in <minutes> | cancel | who

Install

Put the jar into the mods folder of your Forge 1.20.1 server. For the overlay, the menu and pictures the players need the same version of the mod too.

Config

config/prettyannouncer.toml (restart times, warning minutes, time zone, texts) and config/prettyannouncer-regular.json (regular announcements). Pictures go into config/prettyannouncer/images/ on the server (PNG, max 700 KB, max 1024x1024).

What it does not do

It only announces the restart. Your server panel must do the restart itself at the same times.
