Progressing - a living economy for your world
Press U. Get paid for playing. Spend it on everything.
Progressing turns everything you already do in Minecraft into money that means something. Mining, farming, building, fighting, brewing, fishing: it all earns MineCoins, and those MineCoins buy you a shop that restocks, a trader who haggles, a stall other players walk up to, your own stores with staff and suppliers, an auction house, a night market that may get you raided, and a skill tree that makes you genuinely stronger. No command blocks, no config language: one key opens one window, and the whole economy lives in it.
Every price comes from the game itself. Progressing reads every recipe that is loaded, vanilla and modded, and works out what each item is worth from its parts, always from the cheapest recipe. Install a new mod and its items already have prices.
Your first two minutes
Join a world and press U.
Open Tasks: three boards of jobs (daily, hard and simple) that fit what you are doing anyway. Mine some stone, chop some logs, kill a zombie.
Watch the banner pop up when a task is done and the coins land on your balance.
Open the Shop, buy something, and see the stock go down for everybody.
Why it's different
Most economy mods give you a /sell command and a price list. Progressing gives you people. The trader has moods, the buyers at your stall have personalities, and every deal is a conversation: you can plead, flatter, stay firm, claim there are other offers, or simply meet halfway, and they react to how you say it. Lie about the condition of a used pickaxe and a suspicious buyer may well catch you. Repeat the same trick twice and it stops working.
Prices move. Items you all buy a lot get pricier, a crash or a bubble hits now and then, the rates drift day by day, and the shop changes every three days. Knowing when to buy is half the game.
What you can do
Earn. Three task boards (daily, hard, simple) that refill every morning, eight skills that level as you play (combat, mining, farming, crafting, building, arcana, adventure, commerce), and boss bounties for the big ones. Clear the whole daily board for a bonus.
Buy and sell. A shop with limited stock, a trader with daily bundles and a sell grid that tells you what your items fetch today, commissions for anything you can't find, and a rates page with the price and trend of every single item in your game.
Haggle. Put your own stacks on your stall. Passers-by stop, make offers, ask questions ("why so expensive?", "what condition is it in?") and walk off if you push too hard. Six personalities, eight tones, real consequences.
Trade with other players. Everybody sees the same shop, the same trader, the same auction house and the same classifieds, and buys from the same stock. Your stall shows up for every other player: they buy at your price or haggle with you in a chat, just like the people of the world do, whether you are online or not. What they offer is set aside the moment they offer it, so a deal can always go through. Send MineCoins to a friend from your profile (3% fee on top).
MineBay
A classifieds board with 192 listings on six pages: used and new goods, wanted ads and small shops, each with seller ratings, delivery times and negotiable or fixed prices. Open an account, pick one of 32 portraits, and list your own sales, wanted ads and 3x3 online shops. Parcels arrive on their own clock.
Run a business
Open stores that earn Trade Coins while you play, stock them, hire staff, sign suppliers, buy licenses, take on contracts from firms, commission market research, bid at the auction house, and visit the night trade, which is cheap until the guards show up.
Invest
Three funds from safe to wild, with daily prices and the occasional split.
Grow
187 progression quests and a skill tree with six branches: vitality, combat, motion, craft, nature and trade. Regeneration, lifesteal, a phoenix that catches you once a day, ore luck, a magnet, night vision underground, cheaper shopping and more.
Meet the merchants
The wandering trader sells 32 things for MineCoins and 8 for Trade Coins, new every morning, at 60% off cheap goods and 25% off valuable ones. Name-tag or leash him and he stays. In villages, a new profession works at the Trading Desk: the Online Trader, with a fixed assortment, just 3% better than the shop, restocking 1 to 3 days after selling out.
Services. Repairs, upgrades, enchanting, purifying, blessings and rented storage, all paid in MineCoins.
It works with your modpack
Prices are read from recipes, so most mods just work. On top, Progressing brings base values for raw materials that no recipe produces, so they are not left out:
Compability:
Create, Biomes O' Plenty, Mekanism (all machine-made dusts, alloys, circuits, pellets and more), Cataclysm, Alex's Mobs, Alex's Caves, Bygone Nether, Farmer's Delight, Enderite, Undergarden, Aether, Blue Skies, Galosphere, Oreganized, Ice and Fire, Forbidden Arcanus, AE2, Deeper and Darker, Ad Astra, Thermal, Tinkers' Construct, and every ore that uses the common Forge tags.
Anything with "creative" in its name never shows up for sale. Items with no recipe and no known value stay out of the economy instead of getting a made-up price.
Playing with my mod Chance? Progressing rests in the arena, the dreams and the lucid worlds: no menu, no perks, no task progress there. It's your own fight.
