Description
Proper Copper
Proper Copper aims to enhance copper by giving it more uses. Currently, it adds a copper hammer and a climbing pick.
This is my first mod so expect some bugs.
Items:
Copper Hammer - The copper hammer allows the player to edit a block's blockstate. Right clicking different faces on the block changes different properties. For easier use, the copper hammer ignores the right clicked block's interaction - for example, chests won't open when right clicked with a copper hammer.
Destroying a block using a copper hammer transforms it to another block. By default, blocks decompose to their stair variant and stairs decompose to their slab variant.
Climbing Pick - The climbing pick allows the player to slide along surfaces reducing the player's falling speed and removing any fall damage (allowing for a new method to clutch).
Holding a climbing pick in each hand makes the player cling to the side of a block. Sneaking makes the player continue sliding.
Double climbing picks or one climbing pick with the Lunging enchantment allows the player to wall jump.
Mechanics:
Wall Jumping - The wall jumping mechanics were heavily inspired by Celeste meaning that, aside from normal wall jumping, there is neutral wall jumping – which is performed by not giving any directional input when wall jumping – which gives you a lot of height and weakened wall jumping – which is performed by moving towards the wall you are clung to when wall jumping – which pushes you away from the wall.
Neutral wall jumps are useful for traversing large vertical distances whereas weakened wall jumps, while they are mainly added to prevent the player from repeatedly jumping towards the same wall, can be used strategically to cross long distances.
Enchantments:
Lunging (Climbing Pick Enchantment) - Allows the player to wall jump using only one climbing pick. Also, lunges the player towards a mob when it is hit. Incompatible with Leaping.
Leaping (Climbing Pick Enchantment) - Allows the player to wall jump higher and causes less exhaustion when wall jumping. Incompatible with Lunging.
Compatibility:
Quark - Shift right clicking a slab will transform it into its vertical slab variant (and vice versa).
Enchantment Descriptions - Added enchantment descriptions written above.
Configuration:
- Copper hammer right click interaction can be disabled.
- Blocks can be blacklisted from copper hammer interaction using tags in data packs.
- Copper hammer ignore block interaction can be disabled.
- Quark vertical slab transformations can be changed using data packs.
- Copper hammer breaking transformations can be disabled and the transformations themselves can be edited using data packs.
- Blocks can be blacklisted so they can't be clung to with a climbing pick using tags in data packs.
Credits:
Wall-Jump! [FORGE] - referencing wall jump logic and wall jump math
Luigipunch - original idea and texture for climbing pick
Porting:
Asking for a port to older versions or to Fabric will result in the sudden loss of your kneecaps. You have been warned.
