# 🐧 Rancraft Penguins: Modern Port

Rancraft Penguins: Modern Port is a work-in-progress port of the classic Rancraft Penguins mod for modern Minecraft.

The goal is to recreate the original Minecraft 1.7.10 mod as faithfully as possible on Forge 26.2, including its penguin species, original textures and models, items, equipment, recipes, AI, taming, breeding, swimming, special penguins, and other gameplay mechanics.

## ⚠️ ALPHA WARNING

This is an EARLY ALPHA build and is NOT feature-complete.

Some content is currently unfinished or broken.

Known issues include:
- Some items currently display Minecraft's purple-and-black missing texture.
- Penguin rendering is still being ported.
- Some AI and behaviors are unfinished.
- Spawning is still being worked on.
- Recipes are still being ported.
- Special penguin mechanics are unfinished.
- Additional bugs should be expected.

This alpha is primarily available for testing and development feedback.

The long-term goal is a faithful 1:1 modern port wherever modern Minecraft and Forge allow it.

## 🔨 Development Status

This project is actively being ported from the original Minecraft 1.7.10 version to Forge 26.2.

Because Minecraft and Forge have changed dramatically since 1.7.10, many original systems have to be rewritten for modern Minecraft rather than simply copied over.

Expect significant improvements between alpha versions.
