Description
So, you know those other infection mods with all kinds of fancy mobs? Yeah, those are pretty nice and polished. This one is much more of an experiment, ya know?
To simplify what this mod adds, it's an infectious status effect. When an entity has the status effect and is either neutral or aggressive, or has any normal attacking in its AI, it becomes rabid toward anything and everything, including other infected. This is to be realistic, since if you think about it, a microbe wouldn't make the infected docile towards each other, brain damage just isn't like that. When plagued mobs are near each other, they transmit the effect. Plagued mobs will eventually die due to having the Plague, as the effect doesn't naturally go away without the use of milk or commands. It will also kill you.
However, there are still unrealistic aspects of the plague as well, but restrained to be within reality. Unlike most mods where points come from killing or converting the non-infected, the plague has Realization points. As more infected die off from eating each other or simply withering away, the disease experiences natural selection as it is somewhat unsustainable for preserving hosts needed for spreading. So, at the 500th death of an infected individual, the Plague mutates so that the infected tolerate each other. They don't act like a proper horde or get alerted, no special behaviors, just tolerance at each other's existence through the unifying force of hating the non-infected.
The Plague will be contracted randomly when a mob spawns. After which, it will spread. Very quickly. Any land with passive mobs will be uninhabitable and caves with hostile mobs will be empty, yet suspiciously filled with explosion craters. If the plague mutates, your golems and wolves will turn against you, and modded entities will unify together and kill their one true enemy: the player.
You can also craft a potion of Living Death if you wanted to commit biological warfare.
Imagine Call Of The Hive from Scape And Run and Alex's Caves's rage being combined and having it's own dedicated mod, and you basically have this.
