About

Description

Realistic Start slows down early-game progression and provides a more realistic survival experience by doing a number of things.

First, trees cannot be harvested by hand and requires the use of a tool to harvest.
Second, flint versions of the pickaxe and axe have been added.
Finally, to craft these tools, you'll need to knap them into shape, so Filed Bones have been added.  Additionally, cows, pigs, and sheep now drop bones.

The process to create these new starting tools starts with punching leaves to acquire sticks.  Then, you'll find gravel and harvest it until you get flint.  From there, kill a cow, pig, sheep, or skeleton to get your first bones.  Hold the bone in your hand and right-click a smooth, hard surface (stone) to file it down. Filing this way takes a lot of work, so ensure you're not starving before beginning the process.  Once you have a Filed Bone, you can knap the flint into a pickaxe or axe head, then find yourself some string and bind it all together for your first tool.

A Ceramic Bucket made of clay is also present, but is not necessary for progression.  It was added for the modpack that this mod was developed for, as Tinker's Construct requires Lava to function, but the modpack restricts Iron to being processed using Tinker's Construct.
