Laendli Recruits Compat

Laendli Recruits Compat is an integration mod that allows the Recruits mod and Laendli Transport to work together seamlessly. Recruits can operate vehicles, reload ammunition, use mounted weapons, fly airships, deploy parachutes, and participate in faction-based warfare while retaining all normal Recruits AI behavior.

This mod is intended for large-scale medieval and industrial warfare servers, allowing players to command armies of AI-controlled soldiers operating vehicles alongside infantry.

Features

Vehicle Operation

Recruits can automatically control most Laendli Transport combat vehicles, including:

  • Tanks
  • Steam Warships
  • Air Warships
  • Viper Airships
  • Crawler
  • Machine Gun Turrets
  • Pom-Pom Turrets
  • Cannon Turrets
  • Wheeled Cannons
  • Box Cannons

Once a recruit enters a supported vehicle, it will drive or fly toward its assigned target position and engage enemies automatically.

Autonomous Combat

Recruits operating vehicles will:

  • Detect hostile targets
  • Aim vehicle weapons
  • Fire cannons and machine guns
  • Attack enemy mobs and hostile factions
  • Continue fighting while moving
  • Use the same aggressive behavior settings as normal recruits

No player interaction is required after assigning the vehicle, apart from guiding movement path of vehicles.

Automatic Ammunition Reloading

Vehicle crews automatically reload ammunition from their inventory.

Supported ammunition types include:

Tanks

  • Explosive Ammunition

Cannons

  • Cannonball
  • Cannon Shells
  • Timed/Fused Shells
  • Cannon Charges

Machine Gun

  • Short Cartridges

Pom-Pom Turret

  • Explosive Ammunition

Airships

  • TNT Bombs
  • Aerial Bombs
  • Short Cartridges

If a recruit carries compatible ammunition, the vehicle will automatically reload its weapon systems whenever ammunition slots become empty.

Automatic Fuel and Water Refilling

Recruits automatically refill:

  • Fuel tanks
  • Water tanks

using supplies stored in their inventory whenever the vehicle requires them.

Formation Movement

When multiple vehicles are ordered to move to the same location, they no longer stack on top of one another.

Instead, vehicles automatically spread into a formation around the destination.

Benefits

  • Reduced traffic jams
  • Better battlefield organization
  • Improved visual appearance
  • More effective artillery deployment

Vehicle Obstacle Avoidance

Vehicle crews attempt to avoid becoming permanently stuck.

When a vehicle is unable to move:

  • The AI searches nearby open space
  • Attempts to navigate around the obstacle
  • Selects a new temporary movement point
  • Continues toward its original destination

This greatly improves performance in:

  • Forests
  • Villages
  • Mountain passes
  • Rough terrain

Faction Integration

Vehicles automatically join the same faction as the recruit operating them once they enter it.

This allows:

  • Friendly vehicle recognition
  • Faction-based warfare
  • Team ownership synchronization
  • Consistent ally/enemy behavior

Vehicles will participate in the same faction systems used by Recruits.

Recruit Parachutes

When enabled, recruits equipped with a Parachute Backpack will automatically deploy their parachute while falling from dangerous heights.

Features

  • Automatic activation
  • Prevents fall damage
  • No player input required
  • Configurable through the mod configuration

How To Use

Video Guide

Basic Vehicle Crews

  1. Hire a recruit.
  2. Give the recruit appropriate ammunition.
  3. Place a supported Laendli vehicle.
  4. Order the recruit into the vehicle.
  5. Set the recruit to aggressive mode.

The recruit will:

  • Drive the vehicle
  • Reload ammunition
  • Engage enemies
  • Follow movement orders

Operating Tanks

For tanks to function correctly, recruits should carry:

  • Explosive Ammunition

The recruit will automatically load the tank and fire upon detected enemies.

Operating Cannons

For artillery units, recruits should carry:

  • Cannon Shot, Heavy Shot, or Timed Shells
  • Cannon Charges

Both projectile and charge are required for firing.

Operating Airships

For combat airships, recruits should carry:

  • Bombs
  • Handgun Ammunition

Airship crews can:

  • Navigate to destinations
  • Attack enemy targets
  • Bomb hostile forces

Using Parachutes

  1. Equip a recruit with a Parachute Backpack.
  2. Enable Recruit Auto Parachute in the config.
  3. Send the recruit aboard an airship or elevated structure.

The recruit will automatically deploy the parachute when falling from significant heights.
The animation of parachute will not play as it only supports fall damage negation for recruits.

Configuration

The mod includes configurable options such as:

  • Vehicle control scan interval
  • Automatic ammunition reloading
  • Automatic recruit parachute deployment
  • Vehicle movement behavior
  • Formation spacing

These options can be adjusted in the mod's configuration file to suit your server or singleplayer world.
