Description
Refined Prospecting is a mining overhaul for Minecraft 1.16.5 that replaces traditional ore generation with a depth-based stone layer system.
This modpack is currently completed, but additional changes or suggestions may be left in the comments.
How It Works
Below Y63, all types of stones, ores, and materials are replaced with 6 layers.
- Stone — requires atleast a wood hammer
- Andesite — requires atleast a stone hammer
- Diorite — requires atleast an iron hammer
- Granite — requires atleast a reinforced iron hammer (Coal blocks, water and lava)
- Basalt — requires a atleast a reinforced iron hammer (Iron blocks)
- Blackstone — the deepest layer, requires atleast a ender hammer (variety of granite and basalt materials)
Each layer can contain rare Glimmering variants that produce more materials once processed.
Important: This mod currently does not have support for other dimensions in vanilla or modded minecraft.
This mod is meant to make mining take longer by preventing the rushing of Iron and Diamond. However, netherite is much more consistantly findable and obtainable in the overworld. If you do not like this idea, either change the config or dont play.
Hammers & Sieves
Six hammer tiers are available, each capable of processing blocks from their tier and below.
Three sieve tiers are available — Load rubble into a sieve and process it to extract materials from them. Each rubble type has its own drop table with varying chances per item.
JEI is reccomended to see drop chances. Patchouli is also reccomended, to get a basic rundown of the mod through a custom book made specifically for it.
Current known glitch: Opening the patchouli book provided in the mod while someone else has the book open will cause one of the two users to be kicked from the server. I am unaware of what caused it.
Designed for Modpacks
Most aspects of this mod are configurable via five config files:
- worldgen — layer Y ranges, ore generation, cluster behavior
- blocks — hardness, resistance, and harvest levels for every stone block
- tools — hammer tier caps and sieve processing speeds
- drops — full control over sieve drop tables with add, remove, and replace options
- RNG — Almost every chance aspect of this mod is modifiable through this file
A public API at com.zefishy.prospectoroverhaul.api.ProspectorRegistry allows other mods to register custom stone layers, remove vanilla layers, and modify sieve drop tables without any core changes.
Dependencies
- Minecraft Forge 36.2.42+
- GeckoLib 3.0.0+
- Just Enough Items (optional, has two built in unique menus for crushing and sifting results)
