About
Description
Roll for Survival is a PvP combat system for Minecraft that adds d20 attack rolls, Armour Class, and escape rolls to make lethal fights more unpredictable (Heavily Inspired by D&D).
Instead of every lethal hit instantly killing a player, combat is decided by dice.
How it works
When a player would land a lethal melee attack:
1. Roll 1d20
The attack roll is compared against the victim's Armour Class (AC).
Different armour gives different AC values, and weapons give attack bonuses based on their material.
2. If the attack hits, the victim rolls 1d6
The 1d6 determines how many seconds the attacker is frozen in place, giving the victim time to escape.
3. Escape
The victim can use that time to get away while the attacker is unable to move.
If the attack misses, the victim simply survives the attack.
Armour Class
Armour affects how difficult you are to hit.
| Armour | AC |
|---|---|
| No Armour | — |
| Leather | 5 |
| Gold | 8 / 10 |
| Iron | 9 / 11 |
| Diamond | 13 / 15 |
| Netherite | 16 / 17 |
Incomplete armour sets use the lower value.
Mixed armour uses the most common armour material.
Full Netherite also gives the attacker Disadvantage.
Weapons
Swords and axes receive a bonus based on their material.
| Material | Bonus |
|---|---|
| Wood | +0 |
| Stone | +1 |
| Iron | +2 |
| Gold | +3 |
| Diamond | +4 |
| Netherite | +5 |
Advantage & Disadvantage
Sharpness IV or higher gives the attacker Advantage.
Full Netherite armour gives the attacker Disadvantage.
Advantage and Disadvantage cancel each other out if both apply.
Natural 1s always miss.
Escape
When a lethal attack successfully hits, the victim rolls 1d6.
The result determines how long the attacker is frozen:
1 = 1 second 2 = 2 seconds 3 = 3 seconds 4 = 4 seconds 5 = 5 seconds 6 = 6 seconds
Use the time to get away before the attacker can move again.
