About

Description

This standalone mod brings back the beloved Sack of Sating item from Alex's Caves, reimagined with a new crafting recipe and visual design for use in any survival world!

Features

The Sack of Sating is a utility item designed to automatically feed the player when carried in the inventory.

  • Feeding Behavior:
    • When in the player’s inventory, the Sack detects if the player is hungry. If so, and if the Sack is charged with food, it will feed the player 1 food point every 5 seconds (every 100 game ticks), restoring both hunger and a small amount of saturation.
  • Charging the Sack:
    • To charge the Sack of Sating, right-click on it in your inventory while holding a food item with your mouse cursor. The sack will consume the food and store its hunger value. Some items, like stews or honey bottles, will return their container (e.g., bowl or bottle) to your inventory when used.
  • Dynamic Appearance:
    • The Sack has three visual states which are reflected dynamically via texture changes in-game:
      • Neutral: When idle.
      • Mouth Open: When the player holds a food item over their inventory. Merely having food in your inventory will not activate this state.
      • Chewing: When consuming the food given by the player and absorbing its hunger value.
  • Item Restrictions:
    • To maintain balance, some powerful or infinite-use food items (e.g., Everlasting Beef) are blacklisted and cannot be fed to the Sack. These are defined via a datapack tag for easy customization.
  • Balanced Feeding Delay:
    • The 5-second delay between each feeding action, as well as a short chewing animation, prevents the Sack from acting as an overpowered instant-heal item.
