About

Description

Sanctum's header

A bundle of quality-of-life features, fixes and server utilities for Fabric and NeoForge.

Sanctum collects, improves and implements a number of small and large tweaks most modpacks or even single player worlds end up pulling in from a dozen separate mods into one mod.

You can turn every feature on or off in game, and the change applies right away with no restart.

Settings are powered by Dungeon Config, which ships inside Sanctum, so there's nothing extra to install.

Opening the settings

You can open the menu in any of these ways:

  • The gear button next to Singleplayer on the title screen
  • Ctrl + K, from anywhere
  • The Config button in Mod Menu (Fabric) or the Mods list (NeoForge)

The settings file is config/sanctum/sanctum.json5 if you'd rather edit it by hand. It's commented and readable.

Playing on a server? A few gameplay rules need both sides to agree, such as stack sizes and door collision. While you're on a server running Sanctum, the server's choice wins and the menu shows a little badge telling you so. On servers without Sanctum, those features switch themselves off so you don't desync.

Graves

When you die, your items don't explode across the floor. They go into a grave: your own player head, placed where you fell.

  • Everything is kept: your inventory, armour, offhand and your XP.
  • Modded slots are captured too, such as Accessories, Curios, Trinkets and backpacks. You can turn this off.
  • Graves are blast-proof, and only you can break or open yours unless you unlock it.
  • A chat message tells you where it is: the grave number, the coordinates and how long until it expires.
  • Your graves glow through walls when you're within 10 blocks, so you can find them in a cave.
  • Shift + right-click a grave to put everything straight back into the slots it came from, with armour going back on.
  • Nowhere to put a grave? If there's no free spot near your death point, your items drop the normal way and you're told why.
  • Items from a mod you've since removed are kept safe. The grave holds onto them until that mod is back instead of deleting them.

The grave screen

Right-click a grave to open it. You get the full chest view plus an info panel showing:

  • whose grave it is and its number
  • where it is, including the dimension
  • an expiry countdown with a progress bar
  • stored XP and item count
  • who's allowed to open it

The buttons on the panel:

Button What it does
Restore to Slots Puts every item back exactly where it was when you died
Take All Moves everything into your free slots, plus the XP
Claim XP Just the experience
Lock / Unlock Choose whether anyone else can open the grave
Drop All Spills everything on the ground and removes the grave. It asks for a second click to confirm.

Big inventories spill onto multiple pages, and you flip between them with the arrows in the title bar.

Commands

Command What it does
/grave list All your graves, with location, contents and time left. Click an entry to act on it.
/grave lock <number> Only you can open or break it (the default)
/grave unlock <number> Anyone can open or break it, handy when a friend is closer than you

Settings

Setting Default Notes
Graves On
Expiry time 10 min 0 means graves never expire
Drop items on expiry On When off, an expired grave's items are deleted with it
Store all XP Off When off, you keep the vanilla amount (7 per level, up to 100)
Capture modded drops On Accessories, Curios, Trinkets, backpacks…
Operators can open any grave Off
Highlight graves On

Teleport Utilities

A full set of teleport commands for servers (and singleplayer, if you like). Each command can be turned off or restricted to operators separately.

Command What it does
/spawn Teleport to the world spawn
/spawn set Set it (ops only by default)
/tpa <player> Ask to teleport to someone
/tpahere <player> Ask someone to teleport to you
/tpaccept, /tpdeny Answer a request
/tpa block <player>, /tpa unblock <player>, /tpa blocklist Stop someone from spamming you with requests
/home set, /home tp, /home delete, /home list Personal homes
/warp set, /warp tp, /warp delete, /warp list Server-wide warps (setting and deleting are ops only by default)
/back Return to where you were before your last teleport, or to where you died
/rtp Random teleport into the wild

Defaults

  • 3 homes per player.
  • /back remembers your last 5 locations.
  • Teleport requests expire after 60 seconds.

Random teleport options

  • How far it reaches (1,000 blocks from the world centre by default)
  • Whether it searches around the player instead of the world centre
  • Uses before a cooldown kicks in, and the cooldown length
  • An optional warmup: stand still for a few seconds, don't take damage, and you can't use it mid-fight

Admin commands

These are for operators and change the limits for individual players without touching the global config.

Command What it does
/tputils maxhomes <players> [set <n> | reset] Homes limit
/tputils maxbacks <players> [set <n> | reset] /back history size
/tputils rtpuses <players> [set <n> | reset] /rtp uses before the cooldown
/tputils rtpcooldown <players> [set <n> | reset] /rtp cooldown length
/tputils rtprange <players> [set <n> | reset] /rtp range
/tputils list [page] Everyone with a custom limit
/tputils rtpclear <players> Reset someone's /rtp cooldown

If you lower the homes limit, players keep the homes they already have by default. Turn off Keep extra homes to trim the newest extras instead.

The sanctum:rtp_blacklist dimension tag stops /rtp from working in particular dimensions.

Gameplay

Feature What it does
XP Clumping Nearby experience orbs merge into one, so mob farms stop melting your frame rate
Easy Harvest Right-click a fully grown crop to harvest it and replant it automatically
Jump Over Hop over fences and walls like any other block
Swing Through Hit mobs through grass, flowers and other foliage
Double Doors Opening one half of a double door opens both, and rows of fence gates work the same way
Better Doors Open doors have no collision, so you stop clipping on door edges (synced from the server)
Restocker When the stack in your hand runs out, it refills from your inventory
No Trample Farmland can't be trampled, by you or by mobs
Stack Maxxer Stacks of 16 become 64 and unstackables become 16 (synced from the server; see below)
Rapid Piglin Piglins barter faster (the speed is under Values)
Mouse & Key Tweaks Shift-drag to move many stacks, scroll over items to move them, middle-click to sort
Elytra Replenisher Every player finds their own elytra on each End ship, not just whoever got there first
Dragon Egg A fresh dragon egg spawns on every dragon kill, not just the first
Global Sound Suppressor Wither spawn and dragon death sounds are only heard nearby, not by the whole server

Stack Maxxer is careful about what it touches: items with durability, contents or other stored data stay as they are. Shulker boxes, for example, only stack when they're empty.

Values you can adjust:

  • Mending repair ratio: durability repaired per XP point (default 2).
  • Piglin trade duration: ticks a piglin admires gold before bartering (default 34).

HUD

Feature What it does
Health HUD A single row of hearts, with extra health shown as coloured overflow layers
Armour HUD The armour bar with coloured overflow past 20
Toughness HUD An armour toughness bar above the hunger bar
Effects HUD Your active effects as small icons above the hunger bar
Restore HUD Hold food to preview how much health and hunger it will give back
Saturation HUD Your current saturation, drawn over the hunger bar

Sanctum also raises vanilla's caps on max health, armour and toughness, so heavily modded gear doesn't hit an invisible ceiling. If you already have the AttributeFix mod, Sanctum stays out of its way.

Tooltips

Feature What it does
Mod name Which mod an item comes from
Durability Exact durability numbers
Tags The item's and block's tags, shown with advanced tooltips (F3 + H) on
Food Hunger and saturation restored
Food effects Effects applied when you eat it

Zoom

Hold V (rebindable) to zoom, and scroll while zoomed to adjust it.

Setting Default
Cinematic camera while zoomed On
Scroll to adjust On
Mouse sensitivity while zoomed 100% (it drops further the more you zoom in)
Starting zoom 3×
Zoom range 1× to 50×
Remember last zoom level Off

Reacher

Quark-style "reach-around" placement: place blocks against the side or underside of the block you're standing on, without crouching over the edge.

While you're aiming, a see-through ghost block shows exactly what will be placed and where. You can switch it back to a simple bracket indicator if you prefer.

Interface

Feature What it does
Numbered Ping Real millisecond ping in the Tab list instead of signal bars
Startup Ping Plays a sound when the game finishes loading, so you can alt-tab while it boots
Toast Suppressor No more tutorial and recipe popups in the corner
Custom Worlds Advice Suppressor Skips the "experimental settings" warning when loading worlds
Experimental Suppressor Treats experimental registry content as stable
Window Title & Icon Your own window title and taskbar icon (see below)

Window title and icon

Both live in config/sanctum/window/.

Title:

  • Plain text, the name of a .txt file in window/title, or empty to pick a random .txt from that folder each launch.
  • {version}, {mode} and {original} are filled in for you.

Icon:

  • An image or a .txt list in window/icon, or a URL.
  • An item id such as minecraft:diamond, rendered for you.
  • A glob such as minecraft:*_log, or a /regex/.
  • Separate several options with commas and one is picked at random each startup.

The menu's background, music and colours can also be changed in Interface. See the Dungeon Config page for how those work.

For modpack makers

These two features run from folders rather than from the settings menu.

Pack Loader

Drop datapacks into config/sanctum/datapacks and resource packs into config/sanctum/resourcepacks. They load automatically for every world, with no per-world copying and no asking players to enable them.

The order is controlled by datapack_load_order.json and resourcepack_load_order.json in the same folder. Packs you don't list load after the ones you do.

Default Overrides

Put files in a sanctum_defaults folder in the game directory, using the same layout as the game folder (e.g. sanctum_defaults/options.txt or sanctum_defaults/config/somemod.toml). Sanctum copies them into place at startup whenever they differ.

  • Anything it replaces is backed up to sanctum_defaults_bak, and the 5 most recent backups are kept.
  • sanctum_defaults/default_saves works the same way for files inside world folders.

Tags

Every list below is a normal tag, so a datapack can change any of them:

Tag Controls
sanctum:jumpable (blocks) What Jump Over lets you hop
sanctum:swingthrough_blacklist (blocks) What Swing Through won't hit through
sanctum:harvest_blacklist (blocks) Crops Easy Harvest skips
sanctum:tall_harvestable (blocks) Tall crops Easy Harvest supports
sanctum:stackmaxxer_blacklist (items) Items Stack Maxxer leaves alone
sanctum:restocker_blacklist (items) Items Restocker won't refill
sanctum:rtp_blacklist (dimensions) Where /rtp is disabled

Notes

  • Server side vs client side:
    • Server-side features (graves, teleports, gameplay rules) need Sanctum on the server.
    • Client-only features (HUD, tooltips, zoom, interface tweaks) work on any server, vanilla included.

Found something that clashes with another mod or have a feature in mind? Let us know, because compatibility is an ongoing effort with a mod this broad.
