Savage Slimes
No reviews yet
Vanilla slimes become gelatinous predators: they glide, climb walls and ceilings, drop on you from above, eat their kills, grow, and breed. No new mobs or textures.

Savage Slimes
What if Minecraft slimes were actually terrifying?
Savage Slimes rewrites how vanilla slimes behave. There is no new mob, model or texture. Slimes spawn where they always have and look the same, but they no longer bounce around harmlessly. They hunt.
This mod works brilliantly when paired with Hostile Harmony for the full experience.
They glide, they climb, they ambush
- No more hopping. Slimes now ooze continuously across the ground.
- They climb walls and crawl across ceilings, with smooth transitions between floor, wall and ceiling.
- Ceiling ambush. A slime hanging overhead waits until you walk underneath, tenses up with a telltale drip and squelch, then drops straight onto you. It has a cooldown, and it never drops without a target below.
- Immune to fall damage, from any height.
Hunters that feed
When a slime kills something, it digests the organic parts of its victim (rotten flesh, raw and cooked meat, leather, crops, seeds, flowers and more) instead of leaving them on the ground. Non-organic loot like armour stays where it falls.
- Eat enough and a slime grows (small then medium then large!)
- Large slimes reproduce when well fed, spawning small slimes around them. When left alone, a well-fed slime becomes a growing problem.
- Slimes hunt players, iron golems and (optionally) animals.
Large slimes engulf
Get caught inside a large slime and you are rooted in place, losing air and taking damage. Kill the slime and you are free instantly. Nothing permanent is ever done to your movement.
Other changes
- No splitting. One slime dies, one slime dies. Drops scale with size: small 0 to 2, medium 1 to 4, large 2 to 8 slime balls (looting works).
- Tougher: twice vanilla health by default.
- Fire weakness: fire, lava and burning hurt them three times as much. Bring a flint and steel.
- Contact damage from every size. Small slimes are quick, large ones are slow and deadly.
Fully configurable
Speed, damage, health, fire weakness, ceiling range and cooldown, growth and reproduction thresholds and cooldowns, and a population cap on breeding are all in savageslimes-common.toml.
Extendable
What counts as food is the item tag savageslimes:organic. Add your own items from a data pack, no code needed.
Compatibility
- Required on the server; it should be installed on clients too.
- Magma cubes are untouched.
- Works with existing worlds: slimes already there transform when they load.
- Because it modifies the vanilla slime directly, other mods that rewrite slime AI may conflict.
There are no reported incompatibilities just yet!
