Description
Savorwise
See what food does before you eat it: hunger and saturation in every food tooltip, saturation and exhaustion on the hunger bar, a preview of the meal in your hand and the health it will bring back. Takes the place of AppleSkin on Minecraft 26.3.
What it does
- Food tooltips: every food shows the hunger it restores as shanks and its saturation as a number. Food with effects lists them, with level, duration and chance: a golden apple shows Regeneration II (00:05) and Absorption (02:00).
- Saturation on the hunger bar: gold rims on the shanks show your hidden saturation.
- Exhaustion: a faint bar behind the shanks fills as you sprint, jump and mine, and empties each time it eats into saturation or hunger.
- Meal preview: hold food and the shanks and saturation it would add pulse on the hunger bar. When part of the meal would go to waste because you are nearly full, the preview turns orange.
- Healing preview: the hearts that meal would heal pulse on the health bar, worked out with the same rules the game uses for natural healing.
- Best food marker: once you are hungry, a small leaf marks the food in your hotbar to eat now: the most hunger that still fits without waste, then the most saturation. Rotten flesh, spider eyes, pufferfish and chorus fruit are never suggested.
Why use it
- Effects in the tooltip. You can tell a golden apple from an enchanted one, and a safe food from a bad one, without the wiki.
- Waste warning. The orange preview tells you to save the steak and eat the bread.
- It picks for you. The leaf on the hotbar answers "what should I eat" in one glance.
- Exact numbers. Vanilla tells the client its saturation only when it runs out, and never its exhaustion. With Savorwise on the server too, both are always up to date.
Good to know
- Savorwise and AppleSkin draw on the same bars, so they refuse to load together. Remove AppleSkin first.
- Without Savorwise on the server everything still works except the exhaustion bar, and saturation is the game's own (sometimes stale) value.
- The healing preview is drawn for up to ten hearts of health and absorption.
Needs
- Minecraft 26.3, Fabric Loader, Fabric API. Install it on the client; on the server it is optional.
