Description

# Shared Inventory

**Share resources, lend valuable gear, request items, and manage one secure inventory with your friends — directly from the Minecraft inventory.**

Shared Inventory adds a persistent extra inventory shared between friends, teams, and server members.

Create a group, invite online or offline players, and access the same storage from anywhere. Unlike a normal shared chest, Shared Inventory lets you control exactly how each item can be used.

---

## Features

- Persistent shared storage for multiplayer teams
- Online and offline player invitations
- One Shared Inventory group per player
- Unlimited group members
- Three different item-sharing modes
- Recallable item ownership and tracking
- Item Requests with partial contributions
- Animated multiplayer notifications
- Searchable Activity Log
- Personal Lost & Found
- Draggable inventory button
- Optional JEI integration
- Support for Vanilla and modded items
- Dedicated server support

---

## Three Item-Sharing Modes

All items are stored together in the same Shared Inventory. Each item mode is identified by a colored border.

### Shared — Green

Deposit an item using **Left Click**.

- Any group member can take the item
- Once taken, the item belongs to the player who took it
- Shared items remain in the group if the original contributor leaves
- Recommended for food, building blocks, materials, and general supplies

### Showcase — Purple

Deposit an item using **Shift + Left Click**.

- Every member can view the item and its full tooltip
- Enchantments, durability, custom names, lore, and modded data remain visible
- Only the original owner can remove the item
- Showcase items are returned safely if the owner leaves or is removed from the group

Showcase mode is useful for displaying rare weapons, armor, trophies, and valuable modded items without allowing other players to take them.

### Recallable — Gold

Deposit an item using **Right Click**.

- Any group member can borrow and use the item
- The original owner remains permanently recorded
- The owner can recall the remaining item at any time
- Ownership remains attached while the item is moved, dropped, equipped, or stored in supported containers
- Returning the item to Shared Inventory keeps its original owner and Recallable status
- Consumable stacks return only the remaining amount
- Tools, weapons, and armor return with their current durability

Example:

A player lends 64 Golden Apples as a Recallable stack. Another member consumes 20. The original owner can recall the remaining 44 Golden Apples.

---

## Item Requests

Need supplies from your team? Create an Item Request instead of repeatedly asking in chat.

- Browse all registered Vanilla and modded items
- Search by item name or registry ID
- Select the requested quantity
- Allow multiple members to contribute to one request
- Support partial contributions
- Give items directly from the animated request notification
- Choose a specific contribution amount
- Deliver items while the requester is online or offline
- Secure undeliverable items in Lost & Found

When a request is created, online group members receive an animated notification.

If a member has the requested item, the notification displays an active **Give** button. If the member does not have the item, the button remains disabled.

---

## Groups and Invitations

Each player can join only one Shared Inventory group at a time, while groups can contain any number of members.

The Social menu includes:

- Online players
- Offline players previously registered in the world
- Pending invitations
- Player skin heads
- Group owner and member indicators
- Invite, accept, decline, and kick controls
- Pending invitation status
- Safe group leave handling

Invitations can be sent to offline players. The invitation remains saved until the invited player joins the server and responds.

---

## Lost & Found

Lost & Found protects items that cannot be delivered safely.

Items may be moved to Lost & Found when:

- A recalled item cannot fit inside its owner’s inventory
- A Showcase or Recallable item must be returned during Leave or Kick
- The item owner is offline
- A protected transfer cannot be completed
- A group changes while protected items still exist

Lost & Found uses a chest-style inventory interface. Click an item to return it to your inventory.

Items that still cannot fit remain safely stored.

Lost & Found is linked directly to the player, so protected items remain available even after leaving a group or joining another one.

---

## Activity Log

Every Shared Inventory group includes a searchable Activity Log.

The log records important events such as:

- Invitations sent, accepted, or declined
- Members joining, leaving, or being removed
- Items added or taken
- Recallable items borrowed, returned, or recalled
- Showcase items secured
- Item Requests created, contributed to, completed, or cancelled
- Items moved to Lost & Found

Activity entries display the related player, action, item, and time whenever available.

---

## Animated Notifications

Important actions appear through compact animated notifications at the top of the screen.

Notifications include:

- Invitations
- Accepted or declined invitations
- Members joining or leaving
- Members being removed
- New Item Requests
- Request contributions
- Completed requests
- Successful recalls
- Items secured in Lost & Found

Notifications smoothly enter from the top, remain visible for a short time, and disappear automatically.

---

## Draggable Inventory Button

Shared Inventory is opened through a movable button inside the Minecraft inventory screen.

### Controls

- **Left Click:** Open or close Shared Inventory
- **Hold Left Click:** Move the button
- **Right Click:** Reset the button position
- **Shift + Right Click:** Lock or unlock the button

The button position is saved separately for every player and remains saved after restarting the game.

The button automatically adapts to different resolutions and GUI scale settings.

---

## Optional JEI Integration

Shared Inventory includes optional integration with JEI 15.x for Minecraft 1.20.1.

When JEI is installed, the draggable Shared Inventory button reports its occupied area to JEI to reduce overlap with the ingredient list.

**JEI is optional and is not required to use Shared Inventory.**

---

## How to Get Started

1. Install Shared Inventory on the server and every connecting client
2. Open the normal Minecraft inventory
3. Click the Shared Inventory icon
4. Open the Social menu
5. Invite an online or previously registered offline player
6. The invited player accepts the invitation
7. Open the shared storage and begin sharing items

### Deposit Controls

- **Left Click:** Shared
- **Shift + Left Click:** Showcase
- **Right Click:** Recallable

---

## Requirements

- **Minecraft:** 1.20.1
- **Mod Loader:** Forge
- **Minimum Forge Version:** 47.4.0
- **Java:** 17
- **Installation:** Required on the server and all connecting clients
- **JEI:** Optional

Shared Inventory is not a client-only mod. It must be installed on both the server and participating clients because groups, items, ownership, requests, and synchronization are managed by the server.

---

## Recommended For

- Survival multiplayer servers
- Private worlds with friends
- Modpacks
- Building teams
- Adventure groups
- Shared resource management
- Safely lending rare equipment
- Displaying valuable items
- Requesting supplies from teammates

---

## Important Notes

- Each player can belong to one Shared Inventory group at a time
- Shared items are permanent contributions to the group
- Showcase and Recallable items retain their original ownership
- Recallable consumables return only the remaining quantity
- Borrowed equipment returns with its current durability
- Items placed inside unsupported external storage networks may remain in a pending recall state until they become accessible again
- Back up important worlds before installing or updating any mod
