Simple Backpacks

Three tiers of backpack. You dye them like leather armor, and when you craft the next tier around one, your items and your color stay in the bag. The mod needs no library and adds no menus beyond the backpack itself.

✨ Features

🎨 Dye it however you want

Put a backpack in the crafting grid with any dye, the same way you color leather armor. Mix dyes to get shades that are not in the base set.

⬆️ Upgrade without unpacking

Surround your backpack with the next tier's materials and craft. The items inside carry over and so does the dye. You never empty the bag onto the floor to move up a tier.

⚙️ Configure it

Change slot counts per tier, turn off tiers you do not want, and edit the recipes. Set it up for your own world, or fix the values for everyone on your server.

Open the recipe book, JEI or REI in game to see every recipe, including the upgrade recipes.

The mod runs on the client and on the server. You need nothing else installed.

Does it work in multiplayer?

Yes. Install it on the client and the server.

Do items drop when I die?

You choose that in the config.

Can I put it in my modpack?

Yes. The license is MIT, so you do not need to ask.

Does it need a library mod?

No.

Which loader should I use?

Fabric or NeoForge, whichever you prefer. I do not plan to add Forge, Quilt or any other loader.

I built the first version in MCreator, with textures modified from the originals. I have since rewritten the mod in code, with native NeoForge and Fabric support.
