Simple Spears adds the spear - a mechanically similar item to the trident. Spears do less melee damage than tridents, but do double the thrown damage of its melee value (e.g. diamond spear does 6 melee damage, does 12 thrown damage).

Spears have each of the 6 vanilla material variants, and I plan to add mod compat if people show interest in the mod.

SS also introduces a new enchantment, Spiraling. It essentially functions as power, for the damage of the spear (or trident). For every level of spiraling (going up to 5), it adds another heart (or 2 damage) to the thrown damage value of your spear/trident (not the melee damage).

Pros and Cons:

+ can be enchanted with Sharpness (as well as BoA and Smite), Fire Aspect, and Looting. Spears also retain the ability to have Loyalty.

+ deal double the thrown damage of their melee values

+ can be crafted

- cannot be enchanted with channeling, impaling, or riptide

- have lower melee damage and attack speed than tridents
