🌱 SimplePleasures Progression
Making Minecraft's many activities feel like one connected experience
Meaningful skill progression, powerful Mastery talents, rewarding collections, and a little more joy in everyday Minecraft activities.
SimplePleasures Progression is a gameplay and integration mod developed for the Simple Pleasures modpack, a cozy Minecraft experience inspired by Stardew Valley.
Its goal is to bring different gameplay systems together, making activities like farming, fishing, mining, cooking, and exploring feel more connected and rewarding.
Please read before adding this mod to your own pack
This mod provides the systems (extra inventory, bundles, Mastery, Cookbook, abilities and integrations). Much of the content you see in Simple Pleasures comes from the modpack's own configuration: the bundle list, the quest book, the PMMO skill setup and most per-level skill perks. Installing the mod on its own does not recreate the Simple Pleasures experience. See "Using this mod outside Simple Pleasures" below.
⭐ Skill Progression
SimplePleasures Progression builds on Project MMO (PMMO) to support a skill-based Minecraft experience. In Simple Pleasures this uses five skills:
- Farming: grow crops, develop your farm, and unlock more efficient harvesting.
- Mining: improve your mining abilities and work toward better equipment.
- Foraging: gather natural resources, chop trees, and explore the world.
- Fishing: improve your fishing skills and gain access to better equipment.
- Combat: develop your fighting abilities and become more capable in dangerous encounters.
The mod adds compatibility adjustments and abilities on top of PMMO, including:
- Vein Mining: automatically mines up to 50 connected ore blocks, using normal tool durability per block.
- Tree Felling (with FallingTree): automatically fells trees of up to 150 logs.
- Hold Shift to break only one block. Multi-block breaking gives diminishing skill XP, so it stays fair.
The five-skill setup, equipment requirements and level-up perks in Simple Pleasures are configured by the modpack.
🌟 Mastery & Talent Trees
Reaching level 10 in all five skills is just the beginning!
Once you've mastered the basics, you'll unlock the Mastery system, allowing you to continue earning experience toward 15 additional Mastery levels.
Each Mastery level awards a talent point that can be spent across five talent trees: Farming, Foraging, Mining, Fishing and Combat. That's 15 talents that change how you approach familiar activities.
Some talents let you harvest a 5×5 area of farmland, mine multiple blocks at once, climb walls, or move faster through water. Others improve your combat abilities, including Cheat Death, which can save you from an otherwise fatal blow.
Requires PMMO and Puffish Skills. The required skills and level are configurable.
📦 Community Bundles & Inventory Expansion
Inspired by Stardew Valley's Community Center, the mod includes a collection system that encourages players to experience more of Minecraft.
The bundle system supports:
- Themed bundles in different categories.
- Partial donations, so you can contribute items over time.
- "Any X of Y" bundles and alternative items.
- Item-quality requirements for advanced collections.
- Rewards for completing bundles, including permanent extra inventory slots.
The mod includes an expandable player inventory (up to 27 extra slots, built into the inventory screen), making extra storage a reward for progression rather than something given freely from the start.
Bundles are defined by datapack and delivered through FTB Quests. The 27 bundles and the quest book in Simple Pleasures belong to the modpack and are not included in the mod.
📖 An In-Game Cookbook
Cooking mods introduce lots of delicious meals, but figuring out how to prepare them isn't always easy. The Cookbook helps players discover cooking recipes without relying on an external recipe viewer.
- Recipes organized by cooking station.
- Ingredients, preparation steps, and cooking times.
- Hunger, saturation, and food effects.
- Supported stations include the Stove, Cooking Pot, Roaster, Crafting Bowl and Caking Station.
- Ingredient browsing to discover what an item can make.
Works on its own. It reads recipes directly from the installed cooking mods.
🌻 Farming & Seasonal Improvements
Integrations for Farm & Charm and Serene Seasons help seasonal farming behave more consistently across farmland, fertilizers, scarecrows and soil-related systems. Farming becomes more efficient through Mastery talents such as area tilling and harvesting.
🐄 Animal Care & Domestication
With Animal Husbandry, wild animals can gradually become domesticated by eating from stocked troughs, and animal care (feeding, grooming, breeding) can award skill XP and count toward tutorials.
🎣 Fishing Progression & Balancing
Integrations with Tide and Stardew Fishing help fishing fit into the broader skill progression:
- Rebalanced fishing treasure that scales with Fishing level, plus Golden Treasure Chests at high levels.
- Compatibility improvements for rods, hooks and tackle.
- Additional fishing abilities through Mastery.
Rod requirements and perks such as Double Catch are configured by the modpack.
📜 Tutorials & Quest Integrations
The mod can recognize specific gameplay actions (cooking, animal care, fishing equipment, skill milestones and more) and report them to FTB Quests, so quests can reward players for actually learning a mechanic rather than just holding an item.
The tutorial quests themselves are part of the Simple Pleasures quest book.
🛠️ Quality-of-Life & Compatibility Improvements
- Extra inventory slots work with inventory transfers, Quark and FTB Quests item tasks.
- Seasonal crop growth and farmland improvements.
- Fishing treasure balancing.
- Clearer progression tooltips and equipment requirements.
- Diminishing XP for multi-block mining and tree felling.
- Compatibility improvements across supported cooking, farming and fishing mods.
🧩 Using this mod outside Simple Pleasures
What works as soon as you install it
- Extra inventory slots and their UI. Give slots with the
startingExtraSlotsconfig option or/simplepleasures inventory add <player>. - The Cookbook.
- Vein Mining, Tree Felling and diminishing multi-block XP (with PMMO, and FallingTree for trees).
- Fishing treasure balancing (with Tide / Stardew Fishing).
- Animal domestication from troughs (with Animal Husbandry).
- Mastery and talents (with PMMO and Puffish Skills). See the note below.
What you need to set up yourself
- Bundles: define them as datapack files in
data/<namespace>/simplepleasures/bundles/. Players deliver items through FTB Quests tasks, so you also need quests that point to them. - Quests and tutorials: none are included. Build your own FTB Quests chapters.
- Skills: Mastery expects PMMO skills named
farming, foraging, mining, fishingandcombat. PMMO has noforagingskill by default, so either add one or change[mastery] skillsinsimplepleasures-common.toml. - Equipment requirements and level perks (Area Harvest, Prospector, Grounded Crit, Double Catch, level-up messages): these are part of the Simple Pleasures modpack configuration, not this mod.
KubeJS is not required by this mod. The Simple Pleasures modpack uses KubeJS for its own configuration, but that content is not shipped with the mod.

❤️ SimplePleasures Friendship
Looking for deeper villager interactions? SimplePleasures: Friendship is a separate standalone mod featuring:
- Individual villager personalities.
- Discoverable gift preferences.
- Friendship levels and relationship progression.
- Villager requests and rewards.
- Reactive conversations, jokes and gossip.
- Friendship-based trading discounts.
- Optional crime-related dialogue integration.
Friendship and Progression can be installed independently or enjoyed together.
🌿 Designed for Simple Pleasures
Rather than introducing just one new activity, SimplePleasures Progression aims to make existing activities feel more worthwhile.
A fishing trip might help complete a collection. A completed collection might unlock extra inventory space. Growing crops could help you discover a new recipe or reach your next skill milestone. And every skill you develop brings you closer to unlocking Mastery.
The idea is simple: whatever you choose to do, there should be something meaningful to gain from it.
