Slim Pickings

What is this?

Slim Pickings is a simple vanilla-style item pickup mod. It replaces open item pickup with two new ways of interacting with loose items: picking and grabbing.

By right-clicking a loose item, it will be instantly picked up and put into your inventory. 

Otherwise, you can press a configurable keybind (Left Shift by default) to grab everything on the floor, similarly to vanilla. This can be changed from hold to toggle in the Controls settings.

Item pickup cues are purely diegetic; there are no new HUD elements added. Instead, when you are looking at an item or holding the item pickup keybind, it will look back at you, indicating that it's interactable.

Configuration options are built into vanilla GUIs. Unless you'd want further tweaking, everything you would need for preferential setup is easily accessible.

But why?

I was originally using ItemPhysic in modpacks to slightly alleviate the Inventory Problem™, but I found it to be a bit invasive with, well… the item entity physics. I made this as a lightweight, vanilla-style alternative that better fits the way I play.

Compatability? Ports?

There's a couple of mixins for item rendering, the controls screen and the actual pickup behavior. None of these should cause any issues, and the custom item rendering can be disabled through a config option. You can request a port to a different modloader/version, but there's no guarantee that I will get to it or it will be my priority.
