Description
Soulbind
Soulbind is a lightweight Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that adds a new treasure enchantment designed to protect valuable equipment from being lost on death.
Soulbound Enchantment
Soulbound is a single-level enchantment with no visible level number in its name.
Any compatible item enchanted with Soulbound will remain with its owner after death instead of being dropped.
The item keeps all of its existing data, including:
-
Durability
-
Custom name
-
Other enchantments
-
NBT data
-
Item-specific properties
Soulbound can be applied through an anvil to items that normally support enchantments through an anvil in Survival Mode.
It is compatible with other enchantments, including Mending, unless the enchantments themselves have a normal Minecraft conflict.
How to Obtain Soulbound
Soulbound is intended to be a rare treasure enchantment.
It cannot normally be obtained from the enchanting table or villager trading.
Fishing
The Soulbound enchanted book has a base 3% chance to be obtained while fishing.
Luck of the Sea increases this chance:
-
No Luck of the Sea: 2%
-
Luck of the Sea I: 2.5%
-
Luck of the Sea II: 3.1%
-
Luck of the Sea III: 4.2%
Structure Chests
Soulbound books can also be found in selected rare loot chests:
-
End City chests: 25%
-
Buried Treasure chests: 15%
-
Stronghold Library chests: 20%
Using the Enchantment
Place a Soulbound enchanted book and a compatible item into an anvil.
Once applied, the item becomes bound to the player carrying it.
If the player dies, the enchanted item is preserved instead of being dropped with the rest of the inventory.
Soulbound works with equipment such as weapons, tools, armor, and other normally enchantable items.
Creative Mode
The Soulbound enchanted book is available alongside other enchanted books in Creative Mode.
The enchantment can also be applied using the /enchant command.
Compatibility
-
Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
-
Forge 47.x
-
Designed for both singleplayer and multiplayer
-
Compatible with normal vanilla enchantments
-
Does not require additional libraries
Intended Use
Soulbind is especially useful for survival, RPG, PvP and PvE servers where rare equipment should remain valuable without making death completely consequence-free.
Only items carrying Soulbound are protected. Everything else follows the normal Minecraft death rules.
