Description
Stope
The chamber where the ore comes out.
Stope is a small library mod. It holds the code my mods share, along with the parts that break whenever Minecraft updates, so each mod can move to new Minecraft versions with less work.
For players
Install Stope when a mod you use lists it as a requirement. The CurseForge app adds it for you. One copy serves every mod that uses it.
Stope adds no blocks, items, textures, or settings and changes nothing in your world on its own. It only does something when a mod that uses it asks.
Mods that use Stope:
- TrailWright: Trails wear into the ground where players, mounts, and mobs walk.
- Strength In Numbers: Mobs of a kind stick together as herds and packs.
Installation
- Fabric, Minecraft 1.20 and 1.20.1: the Fabric version of Stope and Fabric API, alongside the mod that needs Stope.
- Forge, Minecraft 1.20 and 1.20.1: the Forge version of Stope (2.0.1 or newer on 1.20), alongside the mod that needs it. Nothing else: Stope runs natively on Forge, without Sinytra Connector. Forge 46.0.14 runs 1.20; Forge 47 runs 1.20.1.
- Optional: Mod Menu on Fabric opens the settings screens of mods built on Stope.
Stope runs on the server. Clients need it only when a mod built on it is installed there too.
For mod developers
Stope's public API lives in us.someguy.stope.api. It covers:
- Events: a player's, mount's, or mob's feet landing on a block; mobs hurt, killed, retargeting, or bred; block changes; brush strokes.
- Mob groups and control: same-type mob groups with leaders and commands to alarm, move, hold, or calm any mob, whether it runs goals or a brain.
- Reactions: a data-driven vocabulary binding triggers to reactions such as flee, avoid, defend, and join attack.
- Data and settings: per-dimension saved data, data-pack reload handlers, a strict JSON settings file, a player guide copied to the config folder, and a client settings screen.
- Stable names: vanilla blocks and registry lookups that survive Minecraft renames.
- Loader basics, the same on Fabric and Forge: versioned network channels whose handlers run on the main thread; server started, data-pack reload, level tick, and command registration events; client disconnect; which mods are loaded; and one call that puts a mod's settings screen in Mod Menu or Forge's Mods screen.
New API starts as experimental and may change in a minor release. Stable API follows semantic versioning. Each release has an api-sources jar attached as an additional file: the API sources and Javadoc alone.
Releases resolve through CurseMaven. The file ID is in the URL of the file's download page.

You may compile against Stope's API and declare it as a dependency of your mod. Do not put the Stope jar inside your mod's jar; players install it separately. On CurseForge, mark Stope as a required relation of your files.
Modpacks
You're welcome to include Stope in your modpack. No need to ask, as long as:
- the pack is distributed on Modrinth or CurseForge, and references this project page rather than bundling the jar wherever the platform allows;
- the jar is unmodified;
- the pack's page credits Stope and links here; and
- the pack is free.
For anything outside these terms, such as a paid pack, a paid mod, another platform, or a modified jar, email [email protected].
Servers, videos, streams, and reviews are fine too, including monetized ones.
