Description
What does this mod do?
You know that thing where you've got like 40 chests in your base and you need iron but you have no idea which chest it's in? So you start opening them one by one, getting more frustrated with each wrong chest?
This mod fixes that.
Storage Finder quietly remembers the contents of every chest, barrel, and shulker box you open while you play. When you need to find something, hit a keybind, type the item name, and it tells you exactly where it is. Matching containers glow through walls so you can walk straight to them.
That's it. No complicated setup, no config files, no server installation needed. Just install it and play like normal.
How it works
It learns as you play. Every time you open a container, the mod saves what's inside on your client. You don't need to do anything special — just play the game and it builds up a map of your storage over time.
Search across everything at once. Press a keybind to open the search bar. Start typing an item name and it shows you every container that has it, how many, and how far away it is. Fuzzy matching means you don't need to type the exact name.
Containers glow through walls. When you search for an item, chests that have it get a colored outline you can see through blocks. Green means plenty, yellow means running low, red means last few. You'll never open the wrong chest again.
Label your containers (optional). You can give containers custom names and color-coded categories like "Building Blocks" or "Redstone Stuff." These show up as floating text above the container. Totally optional — the mod works fine without it.
Quick facts
- 100% client-side — works on vanilla servers, modded servers, and singleplayer
- No dependencies required
- Lightweight — won't affect your FPS or loading times
- Works with modded containers too
- Container memory saves between sessions (per world)
- Configurable keybinds
Available for
- Fabric 1.21.1
- NeoForge 1.21.1
- Fabric 1.20.1
- Forge 1.20.1

Leave a comment. I actually read them and I'm actively working on updates. If something breaks, let me know what loader and version you're on and I'll look into it.
