Strata — Rock Stress & Rock Bursts

Dig deep, and the ground itself becomes the danger.

Strata introduces a dynamic Rock Stress system to Minecraft. Mining, blasting, and even walking underground gradually builds up stress in the surrounding rock — and once it exceeds a layer's threshold, a Rock Burst can bring the ceiling down on top of you.

⛏️ Core Mechanics

• Stress Accumulation — Breaking stone, deepslate, or ore, detonating TNT, and even walking underground all add stress to the chunk you're in
• Rock Bursts & Collapses — Once stress crosses the threshold, there's a chance it triggers: mine tunnels can suffer ceiling collapses that fill in the void with rubble, while open caves or cliff edges may give way beneath your feet, dropping you into the abyss or crushing you with falling debris
• Configurable Odds — Trigger chance is fully adjustable via the config file; if it doesn't trigger, stress resets to zero. Rock layers that have been exposed to water get a permanent reduction, dropping trigger chance to just 5% of the configured value — simulating how water stabilizes rock
• Burial on Death — If a Rock Burst, collapse, or fall kills you, falling debris buries you along with your dropped items
• Support Struts — Placing support pillars that connect the rock layers above and below relieves stress in that chunk, helping prevent chain-reaction collapses

💍 New Enchantment: Gentle

Applies to diamond/netherite pickaxes and diamond/netherite/chainmail armor. Obtainable via villager trades or the enchanting table. Gear enchanted with Gentle barely builds stress while mining or walking, and significantly reduces Rock Burst/collapse damage.

🔧 Compatibility

• Automatically recognizes modded rock and ore blocks tagged #minecraft:mineable/pickaxe
• TNT and any player-triggered explosion can set off a Rock Burst; other mods can hook in directly

Strata doesn't add new ores or dimensions — it changes how you think about the underground. Every trip down means weighing the rock, the risk, and how well you've shored things up.
