Talents & Vocations
Late in a survival world, XP tends to pile up with nothing left to spend it on. This mod gives it a permanent use: you trade experience levels for Talent Points and spend them on talent trees. Every talent is a passive bonus built on mechanics the game already has, such as mining speed, fall damage, crop drops or bow draw time. The mod adds no new items, spells or blocks.
How it works
Press K to open the talent screen. Each Talent Point costs 5 XP levels by default, and you convert them with a button on the same screen, one at a time or all at once.
Talents have levels. A node like Vitality goes up to level 5 and gives +1 heart per level. To unlock the next node in a branch, the one before it needs at least half of its maximum level.
There is no level cap. Every tree can be completed to 100%, so the only limit is how much time you spend playing.
The common tree
Every player has the common tree, whatever their class. It covers survival basics: max health, armor, hunger, breathing underwater, fire and lava resistance, shorter poison and slowness, armor durability. Its final talent, Second Wind, gives you a burst of Regeneration when your health drops to 2 hearts (5 minute cooldown).
Changing class never resets the common tree.
Classes
You pick a class and unlock its tree. Each class has a root talent, three branches and a capstone at the bottom.
| Class | Focus | Capstone |
|---|---|---|
| Miner | Mining speed, extra ore drops, night vision below Y 0 | Vein: crouch to break up to 12 connected ores at once |
| Farmer | Crops, livestock, a growth aura around you | Perpetual Harvest: crops harvested with a hoe replant themselves |
| Explorer | Movement speed, fall damage, hunger while sprinting | Featherfoot: no fall damage from up to 12 blocks |
| Warrior | Swords, axes, the mace, damage resistance, shields | Cleave: fully charged axe hits damage nearby enemies |
| Archer | Bow draw speed, crossbow reload, saving arrows | Piercing Arrow: fully charged arrows pass through a second target |
| Angler | Fishing, boats, the trident, ocean mobs | High Tide: faster fishing and stronger tridents in rain or underwater |
| Tamer | Wolves, horses, cats and the golems you build | Eternal Bond: a pet that would die survives with 1 health instead |
| Builder | Block reach, scaffolding, saving cheap building blocks | Quick Hands: place blocks twice as fast |
| Artisan | Anvil costs, enchanting, potions, villager trades | Master Artisan: anvil work stops raising an item's repair penalty |
The class trees have between 12 and 16 talents each, 145 talents in total across the mod.
Two classes at once
Once you have the capstone of your main class and Second Wind in the common tree, you can buy Second Vocation for 10 points. It opens a slot for a secondary class.
The secondary class gets its whole tree except the capstone, which stays exclusive to your main class. Bonuses from both classes are capped where they overlap: percentage damage bonuses add up instead of multiplying, combat damage reduction stops at 50%, and the chance to save durability stops at 50%.
Changing your mind
Your first class is free. After that, changing a class costs 10 XP levels, resets that class tree and refunds 25% of the points you spent on it. If you change your main class, your secondary class keeps its progress but stops working until you reach the capstone of the new main class.
For server owners and pack makers
The talent trees are loaded from datapack JSON files, so you can rebalance values or rewrite nodes without touching code. The config file lets you change the XP cost per point (whole levels or raw XP points), the respec fee and refund, turn multiclass off, and adjust the damage, fall and durability caps.
Talents that only make sense with real activity, such as the Farmer's growth aura and the Angler's fishing bonuses, stop working when the player stays idle, so AFK farms don't benefit from them.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.3
- Forge 66.0.9 or newer
- Java 25
The mod must be installed on both the client and the server. Worlds from earlier versions load normally: your old class becomes your main class, with all points kept.
Translations: English and Brazilian Portuguese.
