Description
🧱 TL;DR — Your iron farm keeps running. Your crops keep growing. Your furnaces finish smelting. Without a chunk loader. Without being online.
⚡ At a Glance
- Offline farms — crops, furnaces, hoppers, animals, and more progress while you're away
- No full chunk-loading — catch-up simulation runs only when a chunk is loaded, not in real-time
- Server-friendly — config-tunable, lazy tax, capped transfers; clients do NOT need this installed
What It Does
A Forge port of The Block Keeps Ticking by MagicJinn_ (originally for Fabric).
When you log off and chunks unload, vanilla Minecraft pauses most block processing. This mod simulates that missed time — AFK farms, offline progress, chunk ticking behavior — the moment a chunk reloads. Think of it as offline progress without the server overhead of keeping chunks ticking 24/7.
Real use-cases:
- Iron farm still produces while you're exploring the Nether
- Furnace smelts a full stack overnight — done when you log back in
- ProjectE EMC farm keeps building up while you sleep
- Animals breed and crops mature without you babysitting
Supported Blocks
Vanilla:
- ✅ Hoppers (item transfer with lazy tax)
- ✅ Furnaces, Blast Furnaces, Smokers
- ✅ Crops (wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, nether wart, etc.)
- ✅ Dripstone (stalactite drip fill)
- ✅ Composters
- ✅ Animals (breeding, growth, hunger)
- ✅ Farmland moisture
Modded:
- ✅ ProjectE (EMC relay/collector)
- ❌ Leaves disabled by default (configurable, high performance impact)
Performance & Safety
Designed with server admins in mind:
- Lazy tax on hoppers — simulated transfers are slightly slower than real-time to prevent economy exploits
- Capped transfers — max items processed per catch-up tick is configurable
- Leaves disabled by default — re-enable in config if you want it, but it's off for a reason
- Config file:
config/theblockkeepsticking-common.toml
⚠️ Server Note: This is a server-side only mod. Clients do not need to install it. Drop it in your server's mods folder and it works.
