The Flamethrower

# Flamethrower Mod

A fuel-powered flamethrower for Minecraft. Hold right click for a **continuous jet of fire** that reaches 4 blocks, sets mobs ablaze and lights the ground on fire. Keep it on a target and the heat builds up. Run dry, and swap the cartridge with **R**.

## Features

- **Continuous jet** - hold right click; the jet ignites, grows to 4 blocks and follows your aim as a smooth stream.
- **Two kinds of damage** - fire damage along the jet, and lava damage at point-blank range (within 1.5 blocks of the nozzle).
- **Heat build-up** - every consecutive hit on the same target adds +10% damage, up to double after 2.5 seconds. An Iron Golem goes down in about 6 seconds.
- **Sets things on fire** - targets burn for 3 seconds, and the jet lights short-lived fire on the ground that burns out by itself in 2 to 3.5 seconds. It never lights the ground at your own feet.
- **Fire-immune mobs are not hurt** - Nether mobs and Fire Resistance shrug it off. Armor and Fire Protection reduce the damage as usual.
- **12.5-second tank** - shown on the item bar and on a fuel counter next to the hotbar, with a low-fuel warning.
- **Cartridge reload** - press **R** (rebindable) or sneak + right click: a 1.5-second reload that takes one Flamethrower Fuel from your inventory and gives the glass bottle back.
- **Animated 3D model** - the gun is held with both hands in first and third person; the cartridge drops out and slides back in on reload, the pressure gauge shows the fuel, a pilot flame flickers at the muzzle.
- **Custom particles and sounds** - layered flame, embers, smoke and soot, plus ignition, roar, hiss, empty click and reload sounds.
- Respects spawn protection, Adventure mode and the server's PvP setting. No jet underwater.

## Controls

- **Hold right click** - fire
- **R** or **sneak + right click** - reload (1 Flamethrower Fuel = full tank)
- Right click with an empty tank also reloads, if you carry fuel.

## Versions

Forge for Minecraft **1.12.2, 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1**. No other dependencies. Pick the file that matches your Minecraft version. In multiplayer, install it on both the server and the clients.

## Compatibility

Tested with OptiFine and the Complementary Reimagined shader on 1.12.2, 1.16.5, 1.18.2 and 1.19.2. The screenshots on this page were taken on 1.19.2 with that shader.
